I am sorry to hear of your loss, roughy; it's hard.
My mother was only 40 when she passed away, due to a brain haemmorhage. it's been 21 years, and it is still raw.
When my granddaugher was born five years ago, I remember thinking about the "injustice" of losing my mother , at such a young age.
I thought, "My mother should have been here to share this joy!"
My mum would have loved to have been a great "great- granny", she was so full of mischief.
Did your mother get the chance to know about/ see the new baby? If so, that is a memory to cherish. Something positive, there, to hold onto, through the sadness.
Edit to add, don't let the sadness take away from the delight of your new "grandie", that is a fanastic and positive thing.

The combination of the happy and sad are what makes up the human condition, the cycle of life. My congratulations and condolences to you.
Something that I've learnt over the years is how even a single minute can change your life. I hope things go as well as can be expected over the days and weeks to come.

As always, very wise words Joe!
I really can't say anything that's not already been said here, but I just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you!

ah, sorry to hear that.
My gran passed just before my eldest grandson was born, 3.5 yrs ago.
Her last words to me were "has (daughter in law) had the baby, yet?"
Baby didn't appear till exactly a month after she passed.
My cousin had her 2nd baby on the saturday, as gran passed on the monday night.
I'm sure your mum's watching over you.

My empathy in the confrontation of your your mixed emotions, Roughy.
My boy made his entry 7 weeks early to try & meet my Mum but she died days before he was born.
He's 11 now.
It still hurts.

I was very moved reading this thread - such a happy but tragic tale is life....
Take a look at this site and
Light a Candle
I hope everything goes well on Friday and you enjoy a good sing song in her memory.
