Worst in what way? terminology a bit vague...perhaps it should read which area is the poorest, or has had less investment or which has the highest level of generational unemployment...

Lol. Generally i would say that the Manor may be stereotyped as the "worst". I think dore/hallam are both nice areas. IMO.

So if it is stereotyped as the worst, does that make it the worst? I dont know much about many areas of sheffield, but while i was waiting for the council to offer my family and me a house i personally had a fear of being put at upperthorpe, and im not sure why???? Just dont like it when i drive thru

Best place is what is classed as the 'Hallam' ward which includes Dore, Whirlow etc
The Manor, Wybourn, Winn Gardens, Parsons Cross all have poor reputations but have many decnt people on there. Gleadless Valley had a lot of negative press recently due to high levels anti-social behavior. Burngreave also has its knocks with drug/gun crime but the area i wouldn't like to live near and the worst for me is the flats round Exeter Drive (Netherthorpe?). Nasty area with nasty people!

I'm a part time Stannington resident myself (my Parents live just outside the Village), IMO the area gets an undeserved bad rep from various people on here and other sources, part of that's down to trouble on the estates in the area classed as Lower Stannington, but if the numpties at the Council didn't move troublesome families off the Wybourn and other rough areas into the area, there wouldn't be a problem, cos the rest of the estates are mostly populated by young families or pensioners.

People always mention Dore/Whirlow/Ecclesall, but I think Ranmoor and Fulwood are far nicer.

There's only one thing wrong with Fulwood, it's full of 10 Bob Millionaires who drive 4x4s.

manor isnt as bad as loads of places in sheffield, for instence jordanthorpe, woodthorpe, farleigh, wybourn, norfolk park, arborthorne, gleadless valley, pitsmoor, upperthorpe, darnall etc etc. manor alot better now all the old white houses been knocked down. and ranmoor and fulwood are the better two in my opinion.

I agree 100%.
It may have been done before, but new members may want to contribute to thisthread.
Remarks such as "OMG Not Again" do nothing to encourage new members to post. The "Oldies" don't have to read it (or comment adversely) if they are bored by it.
The Mods can always merge the threads at a later date if they so wish.
Leave the moderating to the mods......
