Having engaged in Slickwitch's thread about slippers, I started to wonder about a few things associated with middle-age. Ok so I know that I'm hardly likely to start smoking a pipe, but how likely is it that I'll start desiring crimpelene twinsets, scholl footwear and sucking on chocolate limes.

If anyone ever finds me wearing crimplene twinsets they have my permission to put me out of my misery.

Ooooh- haven't had any sugared almonds in years.

Now you've got me thinking.

Werthers is the trademark of middle to old age. Luckily, I seem to be regressing and therefore I will never have to experience said sweets, leaky bladders and matching beige shirts with nipple high trousers.

You don't mean crimplene twinsets, you mean crimplene suits! The twinsets come in lambs wool or, if you are rich, lambs wool and cashmere mix. And you mustn't forget your pearls, you should always wear pearls with a twinset.

I'm well past middle age - we don't all wear crimplene you know! I have to say the high heels don't get much of an outing these days, I can only totter a few steps in them.

Mmm, I haven't done the braces and belt look yet either.

I'm gonna have a succession of mid-life crisis', having one torrid affair after another.

And when I've ruined not only my life, but the lives of those around me and their families too, I'll come on 'ere and GET SOME SYMPATHY ! ! ! !

That seems to be the general feeling amongst our age group, I wonder when the craving for crimplene will begin.

Thanks for the tip Dozy, am I right in assuming a red chanel lippy in the centre of my lips is to complete the look?

How dare you young lady!!!!

I am nowhere near middle age!

I have a deal with the big man downstairs that means I shall live to be three hundred and fifty whilst retaining eternal beauty and strength of mind.

I am therefore just a puppy. So sod you. I only bought slippers!!!!

Yup, I have already got the braces, although in RAF blue, but they serve a purpose. I need a brown leather belt and scrunched up tissue for my breast pocket. What am I on about?! I am regressing... so I will get those horrid thoughts out of my head

Either red, or a nice, bright orange! And you definitely want the sort that will "bleed" gently into all the tiny little wrinkles around your mouth. .

I seem to have touched a nerve, it wasn't directed at you initially although I'm sure your crimplene is of the utmost high standard, Jaegar??

Don't bother going to too much trouble, though, they'll soon die a natural death from sheer loneliness, I'm sure!
