Hi everyone,
I don't normally post but feel the need to warn people living in the Gleadless Valley area.
Two of my relatives were robbed at knifepoint on Thursday afternoon in their own home. They were unharmed but cash was taken.
This was not an opportunist crime, the person and his 'look out' knew exactly who they would target and when.
Unfortunately their 'intelligent plan' did not include them keeping their big mouths shut and they have been heard bragging about their crime
A lot of information has come to light since Thursday - all of which has been passed onto the police.
I just wanted to let you all know if you live in the area or have relatives who may be vulnerable, please be on your guard as these people have supposedly said they are already looking for their next victims.
If you have any information about this crime, please get in touch with the police.
And for the people shielding these scum - you should be ashamed.
Nic

Can we have as full a description as possible of those who did this please? It's kind of hard to be vigilant if you don't know who you are looking out for!

AM note
If anybody has information, please take it to the police, and also please don't say anything which could prejudice a future action by the police.
Thanks everyone.

Those of us who live in Gleadless Valley are a tad concerned
I understand the need to not jepordise anything but please PM if you do have a brief description and can we at least find out exactly where so we can keep a look out for each other

I'm in agreement. I doubt the police would find it helpful for someone else in GV had to go through the same thing because we didn't know who to be on the look out for.

I'm bothered what they look like! It's not fair to post a scary story and then not give us any warnings of what to look out for so we can keep safe!

I agree, but the police should be the first port of call with any info. Definitely agree with you about the whereabouts though.

Absolutely and as it say's in the OP that info has been passed on to the police, we just want to know what to look out for.
I don't believe any of us want gory details, just a brief description and an idea of where it happened.

Hi everyone,
Sorry to be vague, but as the moderator (I think??) said we need to be careful so as not to prejudice the case.
It happened near the Wyvern Pub, there were two of them (youths in dark clothes) with another 1, but possibly 2 people who were indirectly involved.
All I was meaning when I said be vigilant was to keep doors locked at all times of the day, whether you are downstairs or upstairs. Be aware of who is hanging around your streets, take descriptions if it's people who you know do not live in the vicinity, make it obvious they are being watched too. Be aware of those who may know your usual movements/daily routines. Do not keep cash in the house unneccessarily. If you think your house is being watched report it to the police and try to alter your routine if possible. Get relatives to 'drop in' for a visit at other times than they would normally do so.
Hope this helps someone else. I will post again with an update as and when I can.

Thank you Nic. I hope your relatives are doing OK and that they catch these... well I can't think of a family friendly term.

I know the people who got held at knifepoint and they have lived on the valley for well over 30 years. since I was a child anyway. they are a very very decent family, never caused harm to anyone and never caused any bother. is disgusting what has happened and my heart goes out to them. they did not deserve this. no one does. I was talking to the daughters the other day and again its so upsetting for the family.
the scroat that did this should be strung up along with accomplices. I only hope that they are caught and dealt with properly. scumbags thats what they are. their parents must be so proud they brought up such low lifes.
