Sorry I didn't know where to post this topic, so I thought I'd start here.
I'm doing French a level and I have been told that I can get an A, I'd like someone to talk to on a regular basis and hopefully to be friends with not just know eachother through 'business'!

I want to improve and practice my French as much as possible. and would love to have someone to talk to!

PS. If anyone gets this in time, I've got to give a presentation on Joan of Arc in about 45 minutes in French can anyone tell me how to say:

Jeanne became a nuisance, and the king wanted her to go so came up with a plan to send her to battle where he knew she would be captured by the Burgundians, then they would hold her ransom but he wouldn't pay as he knew the English would pay to have her so that they could execute her.
OR:
Jeanne was sent by the king to a battle where she was captured by the Burgundians. They held her ransom, but the King refused to pay the ransom and the English paid it instead, so that they could execute her. This was the king's plan all along.

Or something to that effect!

Thankyou

lol no it wouldn't be classed as cheating as long as I had no help during the actual exam - it's called research!

lol ok - don't worry - I'll ask the French assistant when she gets here.

So far I've got:

Apres le couronnement du roi, il a pris l'armee parce que ce n'etait plus important parce qu'il a gagne le role du roi.
Mais Jeanne a refuse de retourner a sa maison, elle etait determinee a continuer. Le roi....

(with accents of course!)

Can anyone add what I asked for on to the end - and correct anything that's wrong?

Thanks anyway Draggletail x

Hi Lotti

I think Draggletail has oversold my talents - this is much too difficult for me I'm afraid. I might be able to manage some kind of translation if I had my French dictionary but I'm unfortunately at work. It's over 10 years since I finished my French degree and I can only do the basics these days. Really sorry I can't help ... but hope your presentation goes well.

Lotti, I think what you've said so far is grammatically correct. That's about all I can say ....

Heyop, I'm pretty french... I wear gralic neclasses, beret hats, go on holiday to France, was born there... And I use AZERTY keyboards

And your text pretty much goes like this:

Jeanne devint une nuisance, le roi la voulait partie et établi un plan, il l'envoya en bataille où il savait qu'elle serait capturée par les Bourguignons. Ensuite, ils demanderaient une rançon qu'il ne paierai pas sachant que les Anglais paieraient pour l'exécuter.
OR:

Available whenever.

Greg

Hi Greg,

Thankyou, I've already done the presentation though! Thanks to Longshanks too, don't worry!
I spoke to the French assistant beforehand, and she told me something to say.

I don't think my presentation went so well I was a bit miffed, because my nerves let me down, I said some daft things like 'Quand elle avait jeune' instead of 'Quand elle etait jeune' but my tutor told me I did well, and said not to worry about the bit I couldn't answer because he was really pushing me. Nasty bugger!

I'll let you know when I get my result (although it may be at the end of this term I'll be going mad!

Love Lottie.
