Do you think it is a good transport network (like I do) or not?

I like it, it's quick, but you don't see the sights like you do on the bus! (and it's extortionate if you don't have an Oyster Card!)

As a technological achievement, yes. Given that it's hideously overcrowded, I don't like using it any more.

It's ok, gets you around quick (when there is no engineering!!!) Rather use the buses though to be honest.

It's brilliant in my opinion - every major city should have a similar system.
That said, the upheaval caused and cost would be massive...

It's a good, albeit expensive, means of getting around London, but after having had to use it daily for years in rush hour, personally I loathe it.

It is brilliant, easy to use, just avoid it in the rush hour.

Why is no one mentioning the rude weird people there who all get angry if you say hello to them and all develop autistic tendancies for the duration of the journey?

I love the cheerful happiness of our fellow travellers. A wink of the eye, a nice white teethed grin, a nod of the head and a 'how yer doin' me ol' mucker?' The 'fancy one of my Rolos?' or 'Is that Whitesnake you're listening to, friend?'

It's like one big giant family. Lovely, friendly London.

The Tube. Now if public transport was like that in every city, why, I'd leave the Jag at home....*

* This is the underground where I daren't look at the station map in the carriage incase my eyes pass over some nutter's face and he thinks I'm 'asking for it'.

I dont like it at all....We always have used Taxi's in London when we have used public transport, best way really in London. Even if wanted to use our own cars it would be hell because of all the traffic & when we do it is just ridiculous.

I'm a big fan of mass transit systems all over, including the London one, but I've never really used it as a commuter, only a visitor. I'm sure my view of it would be different if I was one of those glum faces that have to face an hour's transit to and from work each day. It's definitely best to avoid the rush hour(s). I can easily spend a couple of hours just riding round on the subway, skytrain, metro, whatever it's called, wherever it is. Somebody said once that you learn a lot more about democracy, or the lack of it, by riding around on the subway than you can in the library cramming up on Aritotle or something and I think that may well be true.

Ditto

I would hate, hate hate having to use it to commute, more than any other way. Give me two hours on a bus rather than a daily panic attack and the wonderful opportunity to spend time with your nose in someone else's armpit and some revolting specimen rubbing up against you. Again.

I recently took my nine year old son to London for the first time to see the sights etc. His favourite part was travelling on the underground but I must admit I enjoyed it too

I used to live in London, years ago and I liked the tube. After living in a village where there was one bus a week (if you were lucky) I couldn't believe the people down there complained about the public transport. The longest they had to wait was usually about 2-5 minutes during the day. It was like being Charlie in the chocolate factory after the abysmal "service" I had been used to.

That said, I think the trams are also good (compared to what I grew up with) yet everybody else seems to hate them.

I don't live anywhere near any of the tramlines.
