My beautiful little girl cat, Olivia, is about to give birth. Im all prepared but have never experienced it first hand.

Is there anyone out there who has experienced cat birth and can give me some advice.

I am sure you cat will know instictly what to do. Just leave her to quietly get on with it on her own. Don't go too far away incase she needs help. Good luck.

your best just leaving her too it but make sure she does not crawl into any space to give birth , some cats hide away and have them

Some years ago, we took in a stray and it wasn't long before I realised she was having kittens, and never having had kittens, it must rate as one of the best experiences I've had, and wouldn't have missed it for the world. just leave her to it, she'll know just what to do, and a few weeks later our dog used to carry them about in his mouth if their mum was missing, nature at it's best.

I'm in the same position as you Olliekitten in that my cat is about to give birth.

I found this website very informative www.moggies.co.uk - try the online cat guide - it gives advice on the various stages of pregnancy and birth.

Good luck and let me know how you get on!

Hope they're all doing well, Ollie.

Good luck over the next few days

I hope they've all got loving homes lined up

No kittens so far. I'm virtually following her around the house. Talk about expectant nervous parents.

Before my cat had her kittens, years ago, she spent a lot of time underneath a shelf in the corner, so I assumed that was where she would give birth. When the big day came, I took the day off work and she actually had her kittens on my lap! The main problem she had was that she was too tired to get the kittens out of their sacs, so I had to do that bit for her

I can't really remember any useful advice, sorry. Just keep things quiet and calm for her- good luck

Many years ago now, we took in a "half grown" cat which actually turned out to be just rather small for a cat AND an expectant mum..

My manager had just walked into my house to deliver some papers and she actually gave birth to her first kitten on his shoe! and then ran away upstairs with the kitten banging on every step (winces at the memory).

She then hid in the bottom of my daughter's wardrobe and gave birth on her spare duvet - three pairs of twins, two black and white, two black with white chests and paws, a ginger tom and a tortie female ...

But the strangest part of this story is that about two mornings later when I went into the garden, there on the wall were three cats - one black and white, one black with white chest and paws and one ginger ...

I'd heard that toms always come back to see the offspring safely born and to nurture the female for the first few days but I always thought it was an old wive's tale.
Truth or fiction? YOU decide

and no comments about her being a loose cat ... having three mates!!!

I'm now beginning to think that she is never going to give birth.

She is running around all over the place.

Olliekitten,
don't let her out of the house, my friend's mum had an older heavily pregnant cat who got hit by a car 2 weeks ago, and died. Probably she was not used to her worsened agility.

She doesn't go outside. She stays in our sitting room most of the time, or at least has done for the last couple of days.

We let her out in the rest of the house with the other cats for about half an hour to see if she wants some company.

we are taking her to the vet at five to six so I shall let you know what he said.
