Hey everyone,

myself and my partner are looking to get a dog next year. To do this we will have to move. We would like to rent a house with a garden. However i've just had a quick look on the net - can't find anything that allows pets.

Am I really going to struggle next year to find somewhere?

Does anyone know any websites what advertises houses to rent with pets?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

G x

I have always rented with a dog, the best thing to do is ask. A lot say "no pets" but if you ask, they actually aren't that strict. Private ads are usually more accepting too, as a lot of the "No Pets" thing is just the agents rather than the houseowner.

We've managed to find lots of places on gumtree that allow pets. I just looked for places I liked the sound of, then emailed them saying like 'do you allow pets, we have a small well behaved westie' and most people have been fine about it as long as it's house trained and stuff.

Our last landlord even let us have a puppy as soon as we moved in!

The unfurnished houses are usually more likely to let you have pets, and some of the people ask for a little bit extra rent for renting with a pet.

I have been advised in the past that insuring your pet would help too Some pet insurances (if not most) cover damage to property caused by your pet.
