hi I am making a cake for a friend tomorrow and wanted to try some things that i wouldn't normally try just wondering if other forummers, cake experts or not had any views..I was going to make a normal chocolate sponge but put marshmallows and chunks of chocolate into the sponge and then bake it, would the marshmallow go weird? and also what kind of topping do you think would go well?? thanks people!

the chocolate chips MAY sink to the bottom and MAY burn at the bottom thats what ive found to happen when ive tried it, now the marshmallows i havnt used in a cake before but at a guess they would probably melt into the sponge anyway.

good luck with it hope it goes ok and let us know the outcome

Bit late for the advice now, maybe for next years b'day cake...

If your wanting to cook Chocolate Chips / Raisins in a cake, coat them in a little self raising flour before adding them to the cake mix, coating them in the flour helps them not to sink

Happy Baking
