Just watched Oldboy for the second time and really got hit by how sick and messed up that film is. First time I watched it (in cinema) I found it shocking but also darlky funny, but on DVD it was a really uncomfortable film to watch.

I can't think of another really good quality film that makes such uncomfortable veiwing... its bizarre to think something is so good and to really dislike it at the same time.

What do other people think of it? Are there any other films that make you feel like that?

I just watched it for the first time, then watched it again, then again. I loved it, but yes it is very messed up. It is one of 3 titles directed by Park Chan-Wook, about revenge. The other two are Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and Joint Security Area, which are suppose to be just as good.

You know they're not far off starting pre-production on the Hollywood remake of 'Oldboy' (which last I heard was starring Nic Cage).

and people wonder why I give hollywood films such a hard time......
