If like me you suffer from varying degrees of hay fever, you may have come across something sold by Lloyds Pharmacies called an "allergy reliever". For those who haven't, apparently it's a battery powered thing with two prongs that you insert up your nose, that emit light at different wavelengths.

They claim it's painless, drug-free and apparently helps to reduce hayfever symptoms. Some even suggest that it can be used on any form of allergy.
They used to be really expensive, but the Lloyds ones have been reduced from £45 to £14.99.

I was thinking of giving one a try, but has anyone else, and if so, did it work?

I work for lloyds and we have sold about 20 of these in our shop this week alone!! Before i worked for them i saw it on "this morning" with dr chris steele promoting it as he had used it, we have had no negative feedback at all from customers and the majority who have come back in have said it has made a difference.

it was in a national newspaper recently too as twins had used it to get them through thier exams when they were suffering really severly with hayfever .

lloyds are offering the allergy reliver and also the air ioniser for £19.98 for both, the ionisier has had some fantastic feedback.

hope this helps.

When I was about 7 my doctor told me I would grow out of hayfever and he was right, I virtually grew out of it about 40 years later having passed it on to both my kids, although I have a session very occasionaly still but haven't had any this year as yet. I found that if I had some medication such as Beconase nasal snifter stuff before I got out of bed in the morning, it worked but if I forgot it was too late. So, if you wait a few years it may go away. You have my sympathy though, it was very unpleasant indeed and it always irritated me when people would sneeze once and say they had it. Mind you, when it was in full flow, everything irritated me.

anyone else tried this? we are going out today to look for one or some other miracle remedy. I dont suffer (though i dont think im safe, my mum didnt start suffering until she was in her 30s) but my boyfriend does and he's a right bundle of snot at the moment. He uses Benadryl (the one you take every 8 hours) but he must have built up a resistance to it because its stopped being effective. any other suggestions?

Me and my daughter suffer from hayfever, mine is in June and July but my daughter has it from early spring to late summer and is really bad with it. We have tied every tablet going and you just get immune to them so took my daughter to the dr's and he has given her some on prescription which are alot stronger. Not quite sure if they work yet as she's only had them a couple of days and the pollen hasn't been so high. Even so it works out cheaper...(for my daughter its free because she's a child) but even if you have to pay for prescriptions it is only £7.00 for a months supply, where as before i was paying £4.00 for a weeks supply.

I've bought one of these today as i was using beconase and it was starting to make me feel sick. I've only used it once so far, and it made my nose feel nicely tingly but made my eyes sting a bit. What was amazing is that the light from the 'tubes' that you stick up your nose, shows through at the side of the nostrils! well worth it just for the novelty value, definitely a new kind of light show - awesome

I've seen these in Lloyds pharmacies and thought they looked quite odd. There was no explanation on the packaging of how they work for instance.

And when i'm full of hay fever, the last thing I want is to stick things up my nostrils!!

Haven`t tried this - sounds a bit strange, sticking tubes with lights up your nose - but hey, can`t knock it till you try it (or know someone else who has tried it!). I take a product called grapavin instead of traditional antihistamines, it works the same but is natural, so no dizziness or sleepy feelings. Best if you take it year round (has some other pos effects also) as a preventative measure. I haven`t had any allergic reactions yet this year, in the past I would`ve been sneezing with super itchy eyes by now, so I`m happy!

Hi Candybox,

I get it from from a company called Doctor`s Natural - doctorsnatural.com - If you go to their website you`ll find grapavin there. But the first time I bought it I called them first (spoke to a lady called Bridgette) so I could explain my symptoms etc and get some advice.
