I've just watched Parkinson on ITV and one of the guests was Lauren Bacall. What a fascinating woman. Today's film stars aren't a patch on the oldies. What do you think?

I agree!! The actresses of yesteryear smouldered on the screen ... Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Mae West, Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Munroe etc!
And the leading men a fave is gotta be Gregory Peck!! But Rock Hudson, Cary Grant, Errol Flynn, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman!!
They all seemed to have so much more style and presence than the majority of todays screen idols.

Too true but I do feel the media (newspapers, magazines) have exploited our celebs in the last decade....

....we have less respect for them because of what we read about them and the 'airbrushing' that stops them from being shown as 'they actually are'!!

So fair is fair people...!!

I bet all the old celebs of yester year would have made some headlines had the 'paparazzi' been there!!!!

I agree in may ways but what ruined the old films for me was the lack of 'front bottom' and the refusal to say the words ****** and ****nut!

call me shallow!

LOL They did !!! Ingird Bergman caused scandal by having an affair and getting pregnant with director Rossellinni, while still married! (Okay tame stuff now but in 1949 it got her labellled 'Hollywood's Apostle of Degradation' Lana Turner's teenage daughter stabbed to death her mobster lover. Marilyn Munroe had affairs with the Kennedy's, Errol Flynn was a notorious womaniser (ever heard the saying "In like Flynn") and was charged but acquitted with having sex with a 14 year old and was rumoured to have the wildest sex parties in hollywood, Steve McQueen was the epitome of hollywood movie star coolness!! Some of them had pretty wild life's and their fair share of scandal even compared to star's these days. Makes your Winona Ryder's and your Rober Downey Jnr's exploits seem like kids stuff.
