Faced with the motley crew that is labour and lib-dems I really didn't fancy either as they're both basically the same and in some ways the lib dems are worse than the current labour mob. The tories in my ward are so disinterested they fielded a guy who lives in york and the BNP goes without saying.

Which leaves the Greens. Now I'd have called you a madman/madwoman if you'd told me ten years ago i'd have voted Green. But to give them their due, they were actually right about all this environment stuff and now they're proved right nobody votes for them as all the big parties nicked their ideas. So I'm going to be voting green party because their candidates all seem local, I think they're much more likely to be genuinely concerned about Sheffield and not what their party whips in westminster tell them to do (I don't think they have any whips, or indeed chains), they seem like nice people and they're not "politicians" with all that lib-dem/labour bagage, they're just trying to make a difference.

If we all vote for them then we might get a council that actually gives a damn about doing whats best for sheffield, not doing what their party machine tells them to do. Plus it would be nice if they got a result because they've been proved right and as a result lost all their votes.

Obviously vote how you want, but if everyone voted green it would send a right old message to the smug labourites and the lib-dems who i'll not attribute a word to for fear of legal action by our libel suit fond parish council.

Tempting.........but I immediately have one problem which is their policy on air travel:

"Air transport is a fundamental contradiction to the goal of a sustainable economy. It is time to ditch the notion that airports are vital to a modern economy."

Now, about one-third of my business is in other countries. I minimise my travel, but I still have to visit 6-10 countries each year. It simply is not credible to suggest that I have the time to do that by boat, rail, bus, car. (I do travel by rail for the vast majority of my work in the UK.)

No air - no business. No business - no jobs in Sheffield.

The Greens simply have no understanding of how much of Sheffield's economy is based on exports and which requires air travel to deliver.

At the above poster, the air travel bit is a null argument with me, as I think we should all slow it down a bit and go with Zeplins.

ok so the Hindenberg and the gas used were not a huge sucsess but, with the modern matirals for the frame work and helioum and as a gas, we could work out a slower, less polluting alternative to the poluting option we actually use today.
