Travelling home on the Tinsley Viaduct underpass tonight, a shadowy figure appeared to jump in front of my car. I slammed the brakes on but nothing was there. My partner also had seen the figure an thought we were going to hit it. Anybody had a similar experience on the viaduct. Scary!!!!!!

Scaffolding shadows don't exactly make the figure of a human jump in front of your car though?
drol, What time was it and what date? - you should check it out and see if there was a suicide death there on that day. Most things like that are replays of sad or horrific moments from the past.
I've heard quite a few stories myself of figures by the side of the road or that walk out into the road and cause panic. Thats the first I've heard of in that area though.

It was this sunday 27th March at about 8pm. To be honest we put it down shadows, but it was spooky, and it did cause me to brake hard.

Yes they do....
They don't have to be realistic, If something looks to have jumped out your brain will automatically beleive its the most likely, In this case its somebody running out.
You use the Confused smillie at my suggestion but you beleive that it must be a ghost and can't be something of this world.

STRANGE! but tonight... (29/march)
Not on Tinsley VD but coming round the roundabout at end of Brightside Lane tonight I clearly saw a figure, walking away from me, I took to be female, walk accross the road further round the roundabout - nearby the big electronic billboard.
She was wearing a long dark coat (the wool maxi style from the '70s) & had long auburn brown, almost waist length hair.
I looked toward our roundabout exit, then looked back.
Gone. Nothing. Nowhere.
hmmmm....

One of these days Patrick, you just might have a spooky experience. Let's wait and see what you have to say then!

According to Slimboyfat this was probably also just shadows and lights? Even with such detail . .

Was actually somebody there....
Who just went out of view as Don looked away?
When Don looked back, didn't quite look in the right direction? (Remember, he was driving).
If it was dark, it could still have been shadows?
Something in the shadows that seemed to change due to looking from a different angle?
Tiredness?
The mind does play tricks?
Lets rule out the "of the world" possibilities before we opt for Ghosts.

Ahh but if only SBF, but Don is not a driver. Don is a professional passenger - it was Mrs Don who was at the wheel.
Don is usually eye at the window looking for roving female pedestrians to at!
Where this girl figure was there was nowhere to go to get out of sight so fast - She'd have had to set off at a race pace to get out of site - it really was glance away & look back timing...

In fact the more I think about it, the worse it gets!
We went round the same route tonight coming in to work so I looked again.
The only possible place the figure could have disappeared to was into the door of The Wellington Pub which stood on the corner, but was knocked down years ago!!!!
