Do you enjoy going to the cinema with your partner or do you prefer to go with friends? Can you and your partner agree on what film to watch, or are do you argue about it? Do the old stereotypes about what films people like to watch still stand (ie women liking romantic comedy and men liking action)?

Me and my g/f have the monthly pass to UGC and we pretty much agree on what films we go to see.

For the last 4 years we've averaged 3 films a month, without any arguement. There's been a few "That was sh**!" discussions on the way home mind.

I usually go with my partner. We tend to go see a film if we both like the look of it, but if one doesn't we alternate; my pick one time and hers the next.

However, once the kids come in to play, it's all different. If it's a film we want to see as well (e.g. Finding Nemo, Robots) then we go as a family unit. If it's not, we take it in turns to endure the purile agony.

currently single, but... when I was with my ex we used to decide what to watch together... although, I'll generally watch anything, so if she suggested something I was generally like "ok, that'll do"... plus her movie tastes were similar to mine, but she just didnt like as much horror/sci-fi as me...

and when it comes to chick flicks, I love em my ex g/f made me watch legally blonde, and legally blonde 2... loved em, made me laugh tons... bit of bridgette jones, umm what others have I seen? pah... quite a few... I think women get weirded out if you admit to liking chick flicks... I dunno why, you don't see guys getting weirded out when a girl likes horror or action movies which are more aimed towards guys

Well I'm a woman and I hate chick flicks, give me a good old fashioned horror/sci-fi/thriller/martial arts any day or something with tons of gore and I'm a happy bunny.
but if i'm honest its rare that we go to the flicks, it's only if we know that it something that needs a big screen to appreciate the sound and pic, otherwise we tend to watch DVD's.
Last time I went it was twice in one week and that's cos it was Dawn of the Dead and Shaun of the Dead which I really wanted to see.

We both like scary films, so we nearly always go to watch them together. When the LOG film comes out, I will have to go with my friend coz Mrs Patchy doen't find LOG funny.

Peter and I go the cinema most weeks; we normally agree what to watch, I think because we have a similar taste in movies mainly. He always likes to see films that he knows will make me scared!

Ummm cos its a night out, away from the usual stopping in the house, plus you can always go for some drinks or a meal after.

A lot of films are better on the big screen than on a small screen. Plus it can be a nice night out.

I thik that's true of ALL films; they always look better on a huge screen! Plus, if I had my TV sound on the same setting as they do in the cinema, my neighbours would complain!

We tend to take it in turns choosing what to watch at the flicks - if he choses something I'm not too fussed about I just curl up in the seat and go to sleep!!
