Are there any baby/toddler swimming classes in Sheffield?

We're moving here June/July and don't know the city. We have a one year old and a three year old and both of them have been going to classes since they were babies. They love it and have lots of confidence in the water so I'd like to continue once we move here.

Thanks.

Ponds Forge do swimming lessons for little ones.
Details of times etc are on their website. I think there are special times for under fives and also proper lessons which you pre book in blocks of eight (I think!).

Hi Cryinglion,

Welcome to Sheffield - here is the number for the Sheffield Children's Information Service - 0114 2756699. They will be able to send you loads of information about everything...(not only swimming - but most child services etc).

Other than Ponds Forge - Eckington, Drondfield and Meadowhead also have baby and todder swimming sessions - the first two have allocated and "warm" baby pools also and you can access a photo of them from the internet...

What area of Sheffield are you moving to - these are South Sheffield, but then there is Hillsborough towards the North which has excellent baby/child facilities.

Heeley Swimming Baths have Aquababes classes 3 times a week and Aquafamilies at a weekend. Their phone number is 0114 2500448. They are located on Broadfield Road.

King Edwards Swimming Pool has parent and child 'warm water' sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays with tuition if required.
They are located on Clarkhouse Road - www.kesp.co.uk.

A slice card (available from Sheffield council ) reduces the cost of leisure activities.

Adult and Child lessons at Ponds are Fridays (up to 4 1/2 years), with children working in different age bands, or weekends Sat AM, Sat PM or Sunday PM from 3 1/2 years upwards.

There are waiting lists so for any class you would need to contact the centre direct and add your children on the waiting list.

There are approx 35 000 primary school children in sheffield and only swimming lesson places for around 5000!

Hillsborough Leisure centre does Mum and Baby swim sessions as far as I know.

They're on Penistone Road just below the Wendy ground.

Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre on the Bochum Parkway nr. Norton do mother toddler sessions and lessons just about every day of the week. My daughter has been and it is quite good.

Thank you very much everyone for all the info.

I'll get my A-Z out to find the nearest one and get the children's names down asap.

Thanks again.

Just trying to ressurect this thres...
We have a 6 week old who has been in a private pool and loved it. Just wondering if there are any classes for very young kids. A Google search seems to indicate that there are plenty around the UK, but I don;t see any in Sheffield.

For the slightly older ones Sheffield Swim School runs lessons at Oakes Park school too. We found out about the swim school through this forum and me and the missus can't praise the instructors and support staff enough. We're very impressed.

I took my 5 week old baby to flippers at Mylnhurst school. He loves it and the tutor is fantastic. We tried the Hillsborough Leisure centre baby fun sessions and they were no way near as good as flippers. You can look them up by typing flippers swimbabes in google.
