Am contemplating getting Bulldog broadband -

4mb for £30 (including phone line rental) compared to:

BT Broadband £35 (incl phone line rental) for a 2mb feed

I realise that BT Broadband have e-mail and frontpages etc but i'm not bothered about that (i have hotmail and google!) BT Broadband also include free modem (and router)- not sure about Bulldog?

This seems a good deal - any pitfalls??

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere before on here but Mods i did a search for 'broadband' and couldn't find a relevant 'bulldog' related thread

I also know about plus net etc but i want to know specifically about bulldog compared to BT Broadband please
thanks

I've heard bad things about Bulldog, www.adslguide.org.uk is a good place to read before signing up with anyone.

BT are expensive, have terrible technical support and it's almost impossible to cancel a contract. Apart from that they are quite reliable.

I've been with Bulldog for over a year. No issues at all - maybe a couple of hours downtime in 12 months but that's it. I pay £22.98 for 512k connection, maybe not the cheapest but my company pays for it anyway

I've just signed up for the 4mg Unlimited D/Lpackage.

£29.95 a month including phone rental.

Downside is that Bulldog are so snowed under with new customers, its going to be at least 3 weeks before they can activate me

PS, internet forums are not very reliable to gauge how good a company is. How people go to a forum to PRAISE a product/company compared to how many go online to scream bitch and bawl about something? Its good to know about issues "some" customers have, but sometimes you got to ask yourself, "Do I feel lucky?"

My 4mb Bulldog line went active today.

Well, first impressions are mixed

My ADSL line keeps dropping off intermittently, although speeds are GREAT when its online. HOWEVER, my phone line is Kaput, dead, deceased, kippered, NOT WORKING!!

Now, I'd heard that Bulldogs customer service was a bit poor to say the least, but the guy I (eventually) spoke to was only too happy to help. He even rang me straight back on my mobile. The problem seems to be that I was told too early that my line was live, and that the engineers are/were still working on it. He couldn't apologise enough, and to me he didnt seem to be trying to fob me off or get rid of me.

So, first day impression of Bulldog? Well, honestly, not *that* good, but we'll see how long it takes the engineers to fix my line. (I didnt get in from work while about half four this afternoon, so I havent had time to get too mad, and I suspect that their engineers wont work overtime just to satisfy MY cravings for the web!)

Hi Bouncer. I've read all the stuff that "wrong" with Bulldog, but they cant be wrong ALL the time can they? However, they have this week to sort everything out to MY satisfaction, then they can start putting everything back as it was before, and get the hell off my line!
