Prometheus 8/10

I did enjoy this, very visual. Some good effects. Storyline ok. Glad I saw it on the big screen and not waited for the dvd!
As for the Alien prequel debate, its like the prequel to the prequel

Go see it!

Pact - 6/10. OK, not a bad story.
National Theatre Frankenstein - Not a film, but a play with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller in. Directed by Danny Boyle. On at the cinema though. Amazing. 10/10.

Watched an oldie last night called "A summer place" made back in 1959 starring Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. Just had to laugh at a lot of it.
Sandra Dee and Troy Donohue get stranded on a beach all night after their boat capsizes. When Sandra Dee gets home her outraged mother is waiting with a doctor who she has called to physically check Sandra to see if she's still a virgin.
I'll bet these two stars today must shudder when they think of that movie

If I recall correctly, Sandra Dee was quite cute.

Edit. I doubt they'll be shuddering about the film though ... looking at IMDb they're both dead. Neither were virgins when they died either.

Just watched The Informers. Stellar cast but truly woeful. IMDB have it as a 5.1/10 but that's way too generous. I'd give it 2/10 and they're both for Amber Heard. This was one of those "Crash" type films with loads of different storylines going on but all of them are bad. If you want to see a clever, intricate, multi layered film of this type which is well written & acted, then stick to Magnolia. The only real winner here is the charity shop I gave my £1.99 to for this DVD.

Cosmopolis - 7/10. Not quite pulled it off but it's a good attempt. Almost all dialogue with little or no action. Brave move for Robert Pattinson and he does a decent job, hope he carries on challenging himself. Hard to follow and most will find it dull!

Casa de mi Padre - 8/10. Spanish language Will Ferrell film. Really funny, lots of Mexican cliches and a lot of fun.

I enjoyed this one a lot, but can understand the bewilderment on many other people's faces. Not packed with gags as such, but loving mockery of Mexican drama and action films & tv shows. Love the things such as reflection of film crew in mirrored glasses, or the bad guy's smoking style.

Thoroughly daft....and the fight between the wolves and mountain lion.....genius!

Haha! That note that comes up is amazing. The film wasn't on long, has it flopped?

Bridesmaids. Really looked forward to this but despite some truly hilarious moments it just didn't flow right. Kristen wiig I believe writes for Saturday night live and it sort of showed it was like s series of sketches, some great some not as great but despite some good acting in places didnt stick together to make a great film. 7/10 (gets .5 just for dress shop "sketch".

The clinic. I love sport. During the 90s and early noughties the Aussies used to stuffed left and right at cricket and rugby and everything else. Why are they so good at sports I asked myself ? The conclusion I reached after watching the clinic is that they have no money or idea how to make anything like a half decent film, and sport is everything to them and films aren't. It had a reasonable story in there somewhere but just badly done, like pretty much every Aussie film I've ever watched but it was still rubbish. 4/10. And we've got the ashes.

Didn't perform well. A combination of football keeping general business away, and the film maybe being a bit too 'strange' a concept for the general audiences. The show I went to see it at only had 3 people there (1 of which was me...so only two paying customers).

Prometheus - 7/10 - Got round to seeing this on Imax at last, it looks fantastic but doesnt really engage, the characters are weak and you dont really care about them, the nods to the classic Alien are most welcome and the best bits, if its true that this is the first of a trilogy then it may go up in my estimation.

The 7/10 is probably overpraising it but im a fan of the concept.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

Nice harmless silly film, that I feel may have been historically incorrect, a bit

8/10
