He's not a neurologist, is he? I've no idea to be honest. I'll ask around. I wonder if the haberdashers/sewing stall in the market have them, or a crafts shop? Otherwise, your best bet might be on Ebay if there's time.
Thanks, I'll give John Lewis a ring. He's a neurosurgeon. This situation arises regularly, usually on exam day. Up to now he's always been able to borrow one from a colleague that hasn't lost his/her hat pin. He must be stuck this time as he sent me a text asking me to buy him one and he's not replying to my follow up texts asking just how he thinks I'm going to manage that in this day and age with three small kids in tow.
For future reference John Lewis don't do hat pins. There's one on e-bay that ends tonight so I might give that a go. Do let me know if you spot any others though.
I think they use it for testing peripheral vision. I've phoned round some hat shops. Most of them no longer stock hat pins and suggest I try antique shops but one claims to have just what I need so I'm off on a quest.
Well, I packed the kids in the car and drove across Sheffield arriving at the shop at 4.23pm (~30 minutes after I phoned them) and it was shut. So still no hat pin.
