A very nice young lady invited me on the forum about 4 weeks ago to an event which I will be attending at a sheffield mosque. Will anyone else be attending as is always nice to meet fellow forumers.

I wont be there. I haven't been invited and I have a prior appointment. If someone wants to invite me along another time I'll be happy to go as long as I'm fed

ele, there certainly will be refreshments, (all going well!) and you'll be more than welcome to call in, however briefly. consider yourself invited...

"open house" day is always the last saturday of the month.

I was being flippant as I really do have other things to do on Saturday but I'm not averse to visiting places. I've been to the mosque in Delhi which is blooming massive and a wonderful place to visit, just for its scale and majesty.

Ta for the welcome anyway

They have an open day the last Saturday of every month?

That's a really good idea.

I could make it, as long as there's no "itoes" there. But first, I have to drag my Gulfstream pilot outta the pub. I'm sure the rule is "no drinking within 12 feet of the aircraft".

No, wouldn't that be a 'forced' day? Any open event is just an opportunity for people to find out about different things? If people go to open days (any sort) with open minds they can make their own decisions.

I'm not religious either, but what we do have enough of is a lack of mutual understanding.

You're bright enough to go to an event like this, with an open mind, without fearing possible indoctrination?

Besides, what a fantastic opportunity to go and see what the Muslim community are all about!

I've always found it difficult to put socks on when they haven't got a hole in them

Can someone pm me or post the location and opening times. I recall the invite but can't find it now. Not promising anything, but I might pop along.

I'd love to go but it clashes with a more fun event - school boy error on the part of the Mosque not to check the sheffield events timetable first.

Yes, there's a "crush your testicles in a vice" event being held somewhere in town and participation in that should be a lot more fun.

A little patronising me thinks.

What do they mean by 'open day' exactly? I was under the impression that, like a church, anyone can go into a Mosque at any time.

Can someone enlighten me?
