As you know i have tonsillitis but who else on here has had it?

Has anyone had all these symptoms: feeling very tired, feeling sick all the time, stomach ache, difficulty swallowing, feeling of a big lump stuck in the throat etc.

This is what my tonsils looked like when i first started feeling ill on friday: http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...0022008049.jpg

This is what they look like today http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...22008080-1.jpg as you can see there is no improvement, you can hardly see the back of my throat.

At first i wasn't convinced that this choking feeling was caused by this, i thought that i actually had something stuck but it is probably the tonsillitis as it looks really bad as you can see from the pictures but i didn't think it would make me feel like i want to be sick all the time and feel so weak and tired.

This is a pic of my partner's tonsil's http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...3022008081.jpg big difference isn't there.

The doctor would probably advise you to stop sticking a camera down your throat!

If it is tonsilitus then it's viral not bacterial, painfull all the same.

My tonsils are bigger than that normally when I used to get tonsilitus they met in the middle, hospital time was usually involved.

If the tonsillitis is caused by a viral infection they just go red and swollen, if it's caused by a bacterial infection then they will have white patches on the tonsils.

Yeah it is viral as the doctor wouldn't give me any antibiotics as they said that they would not work because it's not a bacterial infection.

They do look really big though don't they compared to what they should be.

Looks sore

When my daughter has tonsilitus her throat closed to about the size of the tip of her little finger and it was all covered in grey fur and the stench was appalling

I'm sorry I can't bare to look at the pictures. I suffered from tonsilitus for years until I had them removed. It never just hurt my throat it was my whole body that ached and I had all the same symptoms as you had.

I still managed to pick up tonsilitus last year after they had been removed, just when I thought I'd be ok (Still it wasn't as bad without tonsils!)

They do, I had mine removed in 2006. If it's severe enough like mine was then they will anyway

They do you know!! My little lad has his took out last year, both tonsils and adenoids. It was to cure a constant cough, which a few doctors said was asthma. It wasn't asthma though, because he has stopped coughing. Not a nice thing to have done though, poor little sod had post op infection too, so was quite poorly. Still, he's alreight now

Reminds of the title character in "Alien." But, best wishes for a speedy recovery.
