Hi everyone.

There are loads of people on here who work for pet charities and rescue centres. Some people/charities I know and some I dont.

I thought it maybe a good idea to do a thread where people can just state the name of the charity and website details and their part in the charity.

If this has been done before I apologise. I just thought it might be a nice thread and helpful so people know who they can go to for advice on a specific animal.

I will start us of:

I do voluntary admin work for the Cat Abuse Treatment Society, this charity helps Injured and Abused cats and kittens. Details can be found at www.sheffieldcats.org.uk

This is a good idea Tatty - well done
Well I started Rain Rescue a number of years ago. Previously to that I volunteered in a number of different local rescues and spent a few years at Thornberry. Now I run rain with my best friend Sue who runs everything on the web site. Plus, we are growing with the number of little Raindrops that are collecting together to help the plight locally.

I am one of those that have a finger in many pies but just lately am focusing the efforts of Rain into trying to help the dogs dumped in Sheffield and also help C.A.T.S.

I will try and help any pet in need if I can.

I'm fostering cats for Cats Protection again (Sheffield Hallam). I did it about 20 years ago when I lived up at Greystones and had the space, didnt think I'd be able to do it here in the tiny terrace, but have a custom-built cat-pen now. I wish I had more space and time, but I do what I can. We also transport the cats we're fostering to and from the vets for treatment and vaccs.

There's a link to the website in my signature and I've started a page on there to try to encourage people to foster or get involved. CP have some lovely cats looking for new homes at the moment (check out their 'For Adoption' page) and are also looking out for other people who would be willing to foster cats.

I also cat sit for neighbours and friends (we have 4 cats come to stay with us several times a year) and over the years we've adopted a number of strays/unwanted cats so we're a bit of a soft touch.

I'm fostering Del Boy and Amy at the moment -gorgeous cats!

I worked voluntary for Thornberry for 14 years mostly in the kennels and cattery, but helped out wth all the animals, rabbits, ferrets, pigs, horses etc. I was employed full time for my final year as kennel Manageress / Asst Gen Manager.

I now fundraise for Sheffield Dog Rescue and am a commitee member for them too. I am currently setting up a website for SDR watch this space........

Spending so many years at Thornberry has meant that I now own several pets, dogs, cats, horses and rabbits and have fostered Goats and chickens in the past.

I'm the resident scratching post/kitten foster mum for South Yorkshire Animal Rescue these days. I look after the kittens in my home rather than in a pen or chalet so that they get to hear all of the normal household noises and get lots of snuggles and washings from the dog to help them grow up well adjusted wee beasties. I seem to spend an alarming amount of time en route to and from the vets and administering ear and eye drops- kittens always seem to arrive with passengers!

I am less in attendance at the Shelter these days, purely because my schedule of kitten care and taking Molly and her friends out for a run about doesn't allow for going to the Shelter very often.

I'm also enlisted as a home checker for Sheffield Dog Rescue when needed.

Myself and a small team of dedicated foster carers run Happy Hoppers Rabbit Rescue. We specialise in rabbits only and have vast experience in caring for and rehabilitating sick, injured, abused and neglected rabbits, both domestic and wild.

All our rabbits are vet checked, wormed and neutered before rehoming and we are looking at ways to generate vaccination funds this year.

The rescue is run on donations and my personal wages, no easy challenge I assure you! I seem to have taken up residency in the waiting rooms of our two excellent veterinary surgeries, if you cant find me in one I'll be at t'other!

In my spare (LOL whats that then) time I also have 7 permenant bunnies to care for

Does anyone know of any place in sheffield near S10 that could do with a volunteer helping out? Anything to do with cats and kittens would be best for me.

Thank you

Hi everyone,

I was reading all your posts and I just wanted to say a huge well done for all you do for animals. My neighbour had lots of cats, which she was mistreating, I eventually got them removed from her and rehomed. I have an old dog who I adore, and a cat who is a diva, I'm sure they're both human! I also look after a cat who visits everyday, she's not mine, but I love her to bits anyway.

Just wanted to ask, we're moving house soon and are having a major clearout. Does anyone know an animal charity shop that collects items as we have no transport?

Cheers,
Lisa

Hi. The Cat Abuse Treatment Society collects new and unused items to use to raise money on tombolas and raffles etc....if you have anything then it will be really appreciated. The address is 15 laverock way, Firth park. If you would like to know more about the charity please visit the website in my link
