I used to stop regularly at them when I did lots of milage for my work. I found them convenient and much more civilised than a horrid Burger place. You can have a proper pot of tea, proper knives and forks. The menu is a bit limited but perfectly fine for stopping for a meal and a break from the road.

I am sad that the one on the way to Bridlington has closed down as it was exactly half way between there and Sheff so a good pit stop if required.

It is like a Wimpy. A waste of money! Have a sandwich instead.

You have obviously never been to a motorway café, then you would have something to moan about.
They are expensive but if you get a 2-4-1 voucher out of a paper its not bad and at least its fresh and not been on a hot plate for hours ,they have gone down hill recently though and I miss the free newspaper( I am tight I Know.)

I used to enjoy their 'Early Starters' but the prices were a bit steep.

The one at Markham Moor has a cool hyperbolic paraboloid roof.

Meh, it'll do if there's nothing else at the Motorway services but I wouldn't go out of my way to go to one.

yes indeed.
The structure is a noted architectural landmark, I believe it is well referenced in academic litrature.

I would have just said "really cool roof" but knew there's no way a roof like that would go unmentioned - and wouldn't you know it.....

It's nicer than just about everything else you get on the road! Apart perhaps from Tebay services on the M6, which is locally owned and the food's so good people go there for a meal out!
I liked the breakfasts, excellent when you're off on holiday and looking forward to a break and a nice sit down for an hour. It's expensive though
It's certainly better than some cruddy mouthful-sized 'focaccia' and mouldy grape sandwich and a coffee made of frothy milk that would cost you the same, and that you have to perch on a vertiginous stool (AKA 'bistro chair' as if adding a French word to it somehow makes it worth your while getting arse cramp for) to eat (or even worse, stand up - I cannot understand why people want to stand up and eat?!), but which some seem to prefer to a plain, cooked meal, at a table, and washed down with a pot of nice, strong tea. Each to their own
