Hi all, I am thinking of booking a short break to go to Primrose Valley Pontins, the one near to Filey and Scarborough, but we have never been, so was wondering if any of you have been and could give your honest opinions. There would be 4 of us going, 2 adults and 2 kids, one aged 6 and one aged 2. what's the entertainment like for kids? Is it as good as Butlins? I know that Butlins isn't perfect, but its great for the kids as there is plenty to do! Thanks

I am not sure about primrose valley but Blue Dolphin holiday park is good which is just up the road from the one your on about my parents use to own a caravan on that park and the staff was very friendly and had great entertainment. I suppose primrose valley will be same as they are both haven holiday parks.

We have booked to go to Primrose Valley. We have been going for a couple of years, my daughter is now 8 and she loves it. It is very clean and well run, the entertainment is great for all ages. The swiming pools are fun. We have been to Butlins but prefer Haven sites.

Primrose Valley featured a lot in my Childhood!! I really love it, it's become more commercialised over the years but it is still great! I went for the day last year and remembered just how lovely it is, right next to Filey beach, it has a pool and everything, and a little boating lake with lots of ducks!
I haven't stayed in a caravan for years but they all look really nice!
I'd definitley go there instead of Butlins!

Get a price from Haven then do a google search, a lot of people advertise privately. We go through bayviewcaravans.co.uk there caravans are very nice. You also can get the park passes from them.

Great place. Used to go there for holiday's as a kid. Then we had a caravan there for a few years in the late 70's, then went back 2 years ago and still loved it. ENJOY

My Mum used to have a caravan on there, so know it well. Brilliant site, the only downside is the size, it is massive! We normally go to Blue dolphin nowadays, but they don't have direct beach access, which puts some people off.

Yes but you had the 'Bumpy Road' down at Reighton. We still go and play on that now!

It used to be amazing but then they built over most of the playgrounds with new caravans! THEN they got rid of the dry bobsled slope thing. Ruined my life.

Went for 4 nights last May to Primrose Valley.
Good points; Swimming pool area is excellent. The fairground is very good as well. Supermarket on site is more than adequate for your needs.
The van we stayed in was clean.
Bad points; The site is HUUUUGGGEEE! The food in the bar was rank! The fish and chip shop on site (which is the standard one to Haven), is mega expansive and rubbish.
The van we had was cold with no heating. We had a baby in our group and had "upgraded", but was a waste of money.
We only stayed in the van for 2 out of the 4 nights, stopping with relatives in Malton one night for a bit of warmth and heading home early on the last night.
That said, we are giving Haven another chance this year but heading up to Northumberland.

The site in Northumberland is great (I guess you mean Haggerston). Our kids really loved it. There is just so much to do nearby too. They do horseriding on site, but not far from the site, you can go on the beach, it's much cheaper, and the couple who run it are lovely.
Embleton bay is lovely ( just avoid the stray golf balls) I was really suprised at just how nice the scenery is . We are actually thinking of going back this year, as the kids say it was one of their favourite holidays, apart from Florida

Cheers Squeakyclean
That's cheered me up no end. I was planning on packing the kids stuff, some clothes for Mrs Surfin and a case of hard liquer for myself! But you make it sound pretty good.
Cheers
Jim
