Think back to the first time you ever went to a nightclub. What were your first impressions of it? What was unexpected about it for you?

I'll have to have a think about the first club I went into. I think it might've been Roxy's when I was 16 although I can't be 100% sure.
Lots of people about, nobody could hear you speak unless you shouted into your mate's ear with your chin on their shoulder, lots of flashy lights and a bit of smoke here and there. It was fun for a couple of years until the novelty wore off.
Someone once told me that if you can't pull in Roxy's you must be gay. I never managed it, although I was always crap on the social scene......!

Farmboy you have echoed many of own thoughts. Roxy's was also my first club and I know what you mean about the novelty wearing off after a while. Like you I never pulled and i am definately not gay.

Well there's hope for you yet cos I live with my girlfriend and son and I didn't find them in a cheesy nightclub.

Well compared to what was called Dance halls, like the Lacarno on London Road, and downstairs at the City hall, nightclubs seemed like a dream world.

My first nightclub was Rebels and the rest is history. No real impressions other than - ACE, where's the bar?

I had that view at 18. Never been a nightclub fan. Although saying that I'm not even a town fan anymore. I was out with my other half on Christmas Eve just gone and the amount of evil stares I got from random blokes was ridiculous. I was only out for a drink my other half. What happened to the friendly nod and an 'alright mate' or 'alright love' that I'm used to getting when I'm working around Sheffield? Maybe it's like the Arctic Monkeys say 'It's different when the sun goes down'.

crikey! ive been thinking hard, and simply cannot remember my first time in a nightclub - not a thing! i do however remember the skintight lykra-enriched fushia-coloured knee-length skirt i used to favour in those days....it was something special!
