im a journalism student at the University of Sheffield and i am doing a television newsday on Wednesday 12th December...similar to Calendar news and Look North.
We are wanting to do a piece on houses in Sheffield that have loads of christmas lights and decorations on their house. [You know the ones where people start putting them up in November, or charge people to come and look around!]

So if your house fits the bill (or you know someone else's) and you will be willing for us to film and interview you, please get in touch. Cheers!

I wish you wouldn't draw attention to these people; it only encourages them!

I'm the Duke of Devonshire. Would you like to come to Chatsworth House and see our rather extensive Xmas decorations?

I dont know if this is of any interest to you, but in Clowne N/E Derbyshire, theres loads of houses that get trimmed up for charity, well worth a visit, i think the charity is Sheffield Childrens Hospital

To be fair, you have just joined the forum and have precisely 4 posts. The forum is not at your beck and call, it doesn't exist to get you your degree, although of course I hope you ultimately get a good response. Any member can comment on any thread within the rules. I think it's good manners to at least familiarise yourself with the culture of the forum (and its Characters) before ordering people what they can and can't say or making people feel responsible for the outcome of your degree. It doesn't really give a good impression and won't be conducive to getting a good response.

I hope you take this in the spirit it is meant and don't get annoyed, but when you join an established community it's only good practice to get a feel for the place first, especially when you want favours.

The houses on Meadowbank Road are good and can be seen from the viaduct, their is also the street on Rawmarsh (Ash Grove) that as all houses on the street with christmas lights, and last year, Rotherham Council added some more christmas lights for them on the lamposts which was good

Have you thought about contacting Calender/Look North to see if they will tell you where they are going to film?

Some of the houses on City Road/Prince of Wales Road go way beyond the realms of taste and must have electric bills that reach to the moon. I found out last night where they get their mechanical santas and sleighs complete with flashing reindeers when I visited B&Q in Darnall last night. I guess the tasteless over-statement is all for the kids.....at least I hope it is.

Why not go door knocking around there?
