Does anyone know how to bypass fingerprint scanners on laptops?
I'm trying to get on an NEC generation laptop and can't because it has finger print recognition security .Any Ideas?
Cheers

give it back to them and tell them to disable the fingerprint security before wasting any more of your time

Agreed.
Or you should've had them swipe it before they left... (assuming the software you're installing wouldn't require a reboot! )

The fingerprint scanner security restricts entering BIOS too. I think the simple solution will be to re-image it - thanks for your help guys. Out of interest does anyone know any companies interested in recruiting IT technicians at the the moment or soon?

Here's hoping the boot priority is in the right order then...

Yeah tbh I was just a little curious into whether it would be possible to bypass, but no re-imaging should be nice and straight forward, I think we have a copy of the image that was on it before someone messed with it. I might give NEC a call first though see what they say.

Balls, can't re-image it ,it just won't boot without that person's finger looks like a call to NEC really is necessary

How about you bring the moron that secured it to justice and ask them if they would mind kindly undoing what they have done before you charge them for your time undoing it.

If they have sweaty fingers you can do wonders with lifting a fingerprint off the reader with some scotch tape, scanning it in, photoshopping it a bit to enhance the outlines, then laser printing it out...
Erm, allegedly...
Will get past door scanners too if you lick the laser print.

Anyone heard of desktop support this is what the job is like! I guess it's been issued as part of an educational establishment ah the joys!
Only ever seen a couple of NEC's i think it may be this one NEC Generation
Without trolling through some Notebook forums and finding a solution NEC is your best bet!
You may need to find a new job if you remove all of the users fingers! (as you would have to cut them all off not knowning which one they actually used to scan or was it one of there children!)
