I love eating out and sheffield has a huge variety of international cuisine not to mention some of the best chippies in the north, but today I hit rock bottom, After a hard evening christmas shopping in meadowhall I decided to try out Harry Ramsdens famous fish & chips at the Oasis, what a disappointment!
The chips were old and stale and the fish was old and overcooked. It was so inedible I had to leave most of it. What the fish was called I don't know, they never give them names if it's not cod or haddock. It was the WORSE fish & chips I have EVER had in my life.
I would have taken it back if it didn't mean re-queing for another 15 minutes. Because it was so busy I just wonder how the food can be so stale, unless it's cooked in the morning and then reheated. Harry Ramsden would be turning in his grave!
Has anybody else had bad experiences in restaurants or take aways?
If so lets name and shame them ..and if we get enough we will have a top 10 of the worst eateries in the area.

I would have put it straight back over the counter and demanded my money back.

That really surprises me. I've eaten there a few times and found the food to be excellent. The service was terrible - but it was so bad it became amusing; the waitress decided to clear the table while I was still eating! She even reached across me when I was trying to get some food off my plate! We hadn't been there long and the restaurant wasn't even busy!

I've never rated Harry Ramsdens - it seems too 'manufactured' - the fish are all neatly shaped - real chippies fish are fish shaped! I would have marched to the front and slapped it over the counter and told them politely but firmly that it was rubbish, and asked for my money back. With a queue there, they would likely refund you to get shut of you. Don't hand over your hard earned cash so willingly! If it's crap, tell them!

I'd also have to say a Harry Ramsdens. I hope he or his family got pleasure out of the money of selling his good name to such lousy franchises.

Worst, probably any of the food establishments in the Oasis, processed manufactured crap.
The chinese in there has gone really downhill since they opened back up after the floods, I think they've found the £1 sweet & Sour meals from Morrisons.
Your better getting a sandwich from M&S, at least they're fresh and have a bit of flavour.

This curry house on London Road that's not there any more, it was like Fawlty Towers, so bad it was funny. The decor was like the 1950s, the staff like the Munsters and the food bizarre. A mixed kebab starter consisted of a sausage, a burger and a meatball rolled in curry powder and deep fried and then served on a lettuce leaf with a jar of mayonnaise. Even the crockery didn't match

Pizza Hut on Penistone Rd.
I've complained there before to Head Office and received vouchers as a form of apology.
Lack of stock, slow service, servers who take the order then wander off never to be seen again, very sparse toppings (when complained the manageress came out to then put her hands over the pizza to show us the 'three fingered approach' and how they measure out toppings) - I didn't really fancy eating it after that, dirty toilets... Oh I could go on for pages!

I agree- the fish is terrible- the batter is like a soggy foam coating and the 'fish' just a mushy greyish substance
