Does anyone have information on hiring a restaurant?

I'm looking to hire a restaurant next Autumn for a celebratory meal. It would be on a Saturday afternoon, and would need to be within reasonable distance of the city centre.

Any suggestions about restaurants that I might be able to approach would be appreciated.

Max 100 guests. Budget sorted. Not Indian (too spicey!), otherwise any style of food considered. We've been thinking Chinese actually - but all advice on any potential venues welcomed.

The Leopold Hotel offer private dining facilities in their private dining rooms, really nice building and I think you pay for the meal rather than the room.

May be worth enquiring?

hi red!

If you are thinking "Chinese", you could do worse than go to Tim Po, on London Road, near Waitrose Garage.

It's within easy distance of city, and the food and service are lovely. The only thing is I'm not sure of the capacity... I'm thinking capacity of 75-ish, which may be problematical.

I took my sister there for her birthday, and the meal was excellent!

ps, as CKG said, should we be looking at hats?!?!

most restaurants can cater for 100 if they have the room, but the trick is to deliver the food at the same time, which most restaurants are not designed to do.

I would stick to venues which are use to large functions

Should you be looking to seat 47 000 people?

Try Dam House near Sheffield Uni. Good food and they specialise in functions. Lovely views across the city centre too. Been to a few private functions there.
