Should pupils be paid to go to school to cut truancies?

No I don't believe kids should be paid to attend school.

Why should everything always have to come down to money?

Paying kids to go to school teaches them that the point of education is to get your tenner at the end of the week.

I'd be much happier if kids attended school regularly because they were learning, because they were socialising, because they were increasing their prospects for a happy life ahead.

Why not link attendance registers to the child benefit system and if the child does not go to school............the parent does not get the child benefit.

obviously if the child is ill and not often off school they could be allowed so many sickies a year.
