Alternative to prison sentences

It occurs to me a court could sentence a person found guilty of a serious crime to three doses of Fennings Fever Mixture every day for, say, six months. That should make them behave.

At a certain dosage it would! No, the point is the stuff tasted absolutely foul. I say tasted because it's not made any more, been made into a tablet. I was given it every day when I was nine, later found out is was the wrong treatment for my fever!

Bring back the Stocks and humiliate them, it would be a better deterrent than the holiday camps...I mean prisons !
Or better still make them do a bit of hard labour, 12 hours a day 7 days a week, that would cut down the number of re-offenders !

I'm so glad none of you lot actually have any powers to do anything.

AS I've suggested before why dont you suggest that anyone found guilty of any crime is put to death? Is that the sort of world you want to live in?

Yeah I guess so. I'm fairly sure some of them aren't, unless they have been permanently having a laugh on several different threads.

I have convinced myself that people can't realy think some of the things they suggest would ever become reality, it would be like living in the dark ages again, so I assume they are having a laugh.

It would be scarey to think there are people walking around who would bring back this kind of stuff. The "what would you do as prime minister" thread was quite worrying.

The problem with society today is its run by the PC brigade and social workers. If you really want things to change for the better then we need tough action now, but I doubt it will happen.

The crims will still have an easy life. the social workers will continue to bleet about how the crims have never had a chance in life etc. As for the PC Brigade, when we have finally drowned in every crack pot cause and idea they can come up with, it will be to late.

as with all of things above, there is no black and white IMO. WTF drives someone to blow themselves up?? Dont think we can really understand what these people have had to live with for most of thier lives.

i agree with the holiday camp mention - its ridiculous, playstations, pool tables - takes the P***
and all this "lets talk to them" stuff!?!?! yeah right, we know right from wrong, do the crime, do the time.
when it comes to murder/sex offences etc.... i am sometimes on the side of "an eye for an eye"

that might have been bad but when i was a kid i had to go to leopold street clinic and two big buggers used to hold me down and shove malt extract down my throat,the evil gits would wait while i threw up then dose me again,even years on when i used to drink in the wicker the smell of malt used to make me feel sick,any oldies remember the malt treatment?
