Cheers

Damn straight. Even if you sync up at 8mb, you still won't get a faster connection (7150 is the fastest actual data transfer you'll get on an ADSL Max connection). There's nothing wrong with those line stats at all, especially for a 2km line.

18GB in two days ? Do you buy a new hard drive every month ?

Anyway how do you get the stats ? - I'd be interested in what mine are.

They should be available in your ADSL hardware - if it's a router they'll be on the connection status page, if you use a modem there should be an option in the modem's software to see these. If you post what sort of modem/router you use I'll be able to have a look and let you know. Alternatively (as you're on metronet) if you PM me your phone number I can do a line test and tell you.

Hope this helps,

Thanks orbrey I have an Alcatel (Itex) PCI ADSL modem, but the statistics dialogue just show few details about 'packets'.

Status shows 288 upstream and 1152 downstream. Will PM you my phone number.

Believe it or not I actually went with BT and I cant fault them, went on the unlimited package, I have noticed a bit of traffic shaping in peak times i.e instead of 700kbs D/L it drops to bout 575 kbs, but other than that cant complain.

At times like this, I wish I had a BT line.
Actually, they must have pulled up their game then, as BB was pretty poor a while back. Someone in the family had it, but was in a diff location to myself too. They weren't that impressed with it then.

That's quite a good package.

Be aware that BT are now actively enforcing fair usage policies now including their business packages which has prompted me to switch from them.

Yup, BT are now using Ellacoya's deep packet inspection technology so can build up a very accurate profile of usage (it categorises every packet). Expect some nice (or not so nice) traffic shaping to come along shortly if it hasn't already.
