If anyone wants a sports' book recommendation, I put forward "The Meaning Of Sport" by Simon Barnes, published by "Short Books" ISBN 1-904977-45-6.
Not a plug from a book review, it was bought for me and is over 350 pages of Barnes flitting from sport to sport with short asides and experiences; from World Cup to Olympics, Badminton to Wimbledon, Rooney to Flintoff, Redgrave to Henman. Barnes is an excellent writer and in this book, he asks the questions no one else has thought of. A celebration of sport, we all share.
My copy is billed at £16.99, Amazon do it for £10.19, paperback £5.99.
