I've just installed extra memory into an IBM T23 Thinkpad
(256MB PC133 SDRAM SIDIMM 144 PIN - it should be fine.....I even wore rubber gloves to avoid static )

I was expecting a screen to pop up, new memory card found or whatever, but nothing.

Had a look at 'system information' for the machine (can't copy and paste it but here's a pic)

Am I right in thinking the memory card hasn't been recognised?

I think you might be looking at the wrong think, look at the figure next to 'total physical memory'.

To me that says you now have 512Mb, that sound about right?

total physical memory is the line you want to look at

it's saying 512mb, so assuming there was already 256mb, and you've added another 256, then it's worked fine ;-)

Just glad I don't have to try and take it out to return it - was a total chuffbag to to get it in
