Hi all, i qualified as a social worker last year and ive been doing agency work ever since.

Obviously i have to complete something like 50 hours of training over the next three years in order for me to continue my registration.

Obviously Local Authorities are not too keen on sending agency staff on training as they are permanent staff, although im hoping to be in my current job for about a year, this still isnt good!

Just wondered if anyone knew of any training courses that are either cheap or even better free! I seem to remember someone at college always going on Child Protection/Abuse/Team Building training courses that were all free.

Any advice much appreciated! Many Thanks.

I doubt you will get on any free training courses as they are usually on for people on very low incomes, benefits or unemployed etc. If you went on free ones at college why do you need to do any more?

When they say you need to do 50 hours of training that normally means within a social worker role / position etc to gain experience rather than going on training courses.

Why not contact some voluntary groups who might let you get some experience.

Is it not your employment agency's responsibility to keep you trained up? The best employment agencies will treat you as an employee and you should have access to holiday pay, training etc.
