Kane,
Bruce Lee designed JKD with the blueprint of Wing Chun. You can see the shadow of Wing Chun in his moives particularly in the coliseum in Rome when he fought with Chuk Norris in the Way of Dragon and in Enter the Dragon.

Kane,
The instructor is a friend of mine and I can say honestly (as I have practiced many martial arts) that he is very good.
I only met him by chance and only known him for just over a year so it's not like I'm bigging him up for the sake of it.
He knows his stuff.
If you PM this guy you should get your answer!

i was unimpressed with the teacher, i expected great things (which is wrong of me i know) because i'd heard he was from the combat zone, i didnt like how he spoke out of place about other arts, and something he said during training (which i thought was mad)
but go along and see if its right for you, if you are doing it as a fan of bruce lee there are other ways.
hope you enjoy it, from what i can remember it is on monday and wednesday, if you go then, i'll be in the gym next door.

Tom I'm sorry you where unimpressed by me,(i'd like to know why, then i can improve, and yes i did have the COMBAT ZONE, how many times did you train with, me once maybe ? and you base you opinion on one session?) but i speak from what i've seen, i say what i mean and mean what i say, i have been in martial arts for over 20 years , i have seen some crap in my time and a lot of it has been from the traditional arts, i spent 12 years training in them(so i think i can say at least i tryed it more than once),but i have had some good teachers, and i have kept some of it, even i know JKD has got it's faults, its 35 years old. bruce first used the term JEET KUNE DO in 1968/69
so its out of date all ready,
Kane pm if you want and i will try and help you out.
cheers DB hope to see you soon down at SR'S or come training.
Train Hard, Train Safe but make sure you Train!!!!!
Mark
Kane mon, wed, and thursday 7-00pm till 8-30pm at the Source Meadowhall
Hope to see you soon

I used to study Lao Chi Kung Fu (Flowing Spirit) in Birkenhead, but stopped a few years ago.
I'd like to start up a decent form of kung fu again soon. any suggestions?

Hi, Red 2,
If you are interested in Chinese kung fu, Sifu William Lai is training Wing Chun at the Sheffield Chinese Community Centre. Perhaps, you visit his website at www.geocitied.com/williamlaiwingchun for details.

Hello tombodojoj, in response to your comments about The Source fitness suite. All the fitness instructors are fully qualified in Anatomy, physiology, cardiovascular and resistance exercise they also have many years of experience behind them in the sports of bodybuilding, boxing, martial arts, triathlon, running and studio based activities.
On the occasions when the instructors are seen sitting in the corner (at the instructor station) they are updating clients exercise programmes and administrative duties. that is looking after the customers....
With regards to your comments and I quote"i see so many people whos form is wrong and they walk past them and don't tell them" you fail to specify what your personal qualifications are to make such a statement in the first place, how do you know what correct form is ? In respect to your comments about the Technogym machines only giving routines for the major muscles if you could be specific to which machine and which exercise you are refering to I could give an exact answer..besides which anyone performing isolation exercises before acheiving a good overall balanced physique would be doing so either as a direct response to...
a) rehabilitaion b) sports specific c) ill informed
if you would make it clear to the staff which one of these criteria fits the bill they would be only too pleased to address your needs and offer alternative exercise.
As to the fact that there isn't a bench press....a bench press can be
a) an invaluable tool, offering a compound exercise incorporating synergistic muscles resulting in a great effect....but only in the hands of an experience trainee
or
b) an accident waiting to happed in the hands of an in-experienced trainee
The reason we don't have one is that for general populations it is much safer and effective to have resistance machines so as not to put either joints or muscles at risk at any time.
I would like to offer this oportunity to thank you for your comments and give me the chance to reply...
Please feel free to come back to me at any time with regards to this or any other matter..
If me or my staff can be of any assistance to you either in our fitness suite or on-line do not hesitate to ask.
Remember ...anyone who is a member of a gym or fitness suite should make sure they use ALL the facilities in order to get the best out of it, get the results they are looking for and ultimately get value for money...
that should also include asking the staff for assistance

Hi Tom its me again, the unimpressive martial arts instructor, but then i'm not out to impress anyone, so i dont care if you think i'm good or not, i did think at least you would have replyed to my post,i thought about PM-ing you but as you posted your opinion about me on an open forum i thought what the heck i would as well.
you seem to have dabbled in a lot in martial arts going on your other posts.you have done Wing Chun, lau gar, muay thai, karate,JKD, and boxing But you found taijutsu so much better your words not mine.the thing is how long did you spend in these arts? one session like the one you did with me or did you train JKD some where else as well, sorry but to to study some thing you have to do it more than once, well at least thats what i think please tell me if i'm wrong?
i do hope you reply.
TRAIN HARD TRAIN SAFE BUT MAKE SURE YOU TRAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok
1. i am working away at the moment and the town i am in doesnt seem to have the greatest internet access in the cafes, so sorry i havent been replying and cant reply just yet,
2. i in no way intended to offend anyone, hence why i still put all the details and i tell my close friends to give it a try and see if it works for them, I found it didnt work FOR ME and that is it!!!i no way discourage people from trying it at all.
3.when people are using thier backs to pull up on bicep curls, and i know the little corner is for updating peoples programs but many a time i still see the instructors sat there doing nothing!!now unless they have infa red beams coming from thier heads to work the computers i am wrong on that one, but i posted it on here to get peoples opinions not slag the source off otherwise i wouldnt still be a member,
i will reply when i have internet over 10k. byebye
