Thought we would do shopping tonight to avoid the crowds. First stop was Asda but the queing traffic at 11pm put me off queing from the parkway. So I thought I would try the new Tesco on Infirmery Road total waste of time the shelfs were empty of the things we needed. Managed to get the basics still have to try again tomorrow.

we went christmas food shopping there when it was safeway about 4 years ago, was exactly the same, not a stich of what we wanted and for less than a trolley full it came to quite a bit over 100 quid!!! i nearly passed out at the checkouts!!!
don't know what the tescos prices are like but i think the safeway experience put us off shopping there for life!!!!

yes, thats the one i mean honeyplanet, the one on the roundabout. it used to be safeway. i had heard it was now a tescos, haven't really seen it due to it being a bit set back.
may have to take a look one day. how is it valuewise? i would find it difficult to go there for our regular shopping due to it only being on the bus route for us and the busses are hit and miss to be honest. tram is my saviour so the tram route supermarkets get me, god help 'em!!!

We shopped at Tesco, Infimary Road yesterday (23/12) and it was fine. The shelves were well stocked and we got everything we would normally have bought at Abbeydale Road.
Still spent roughly the same amount of money though! But I find is SO stressful! I am always in other people's way, whether I'm pushing the trolley or standing still. Infact, wherever I stand, waiting for the wife, I'm in the way. If any supermarket has old stock it wants shifting, simply locate me infront of it. Then the whole world will come to where I am.....,

I think thats just a man thing mr honeyplanet is the same. We are off to said tescos today to do our shop, did get a bit worried after reading this thread that there would be no food left but thats put my mind at rest.
Havent been to the new waitrose k-blade its a bit steep price wise for my pocket, we allways go to tesco the new one on infirmary roads pretty good they seem to have crammed a lot more into it than the safeway ever managed

Went to Tesco on Herries Road last night 5pm. Even quieter than usual, and plenty of stock in.
(hmmmm, maybe I should keep a bit more quiet about it!?)

We braved Morrisons on Tuesday at about 3pm and it was fine. Managed to get everything we wanted and a few bits extra (never shop with kids!!) We went straight to an empty till with no queuing at all.
I shall shop at that time again next year.
Just the fresh stuff/bread/veg to get tomorrow and I am done.

I went to Morrisons last night at 21.00 and the queue's were 7 deep so walked out. Been to Iceland and Sainsburys at the Peaks this morning and it was a lot quieter.
If it wasnt for the pub calling tomorrow i would go on Xmas eve as its usally quiet and you can bag loads of bargins in Supermarkets on Xmas eve due to the two day shut down.

I went to the 24 hour Tesco last night at 11.30pm. Shelf fillers everywhere, little on the shelves, boxes all over the place waiting to be unpacked. Hard to move around. No mince pies in the store! Only one nut roast left. Little to be found anywhere really!
The cigarette counter was closed, the checkout operator told me that I just needed to ask someone and they'd open it to sell cigarettes. I asked security who said it was closed. I repeated that the checkout operator said it could be opened. He shrugged. I requested a manager who came and told me he'd find the keys to open it. It then transpired that the keys had been lost. Great.

i've just been to tesco on abbeydale road to get some milk. i must have counted more than 20 fully or half filled trollies that seemed to have been abandoned and scattered throughout the store! what's all that about then??? what a waste of frozen and chilled food as this will all now get thrown out! what makes people change their mind and do a runner? i did also witness about 5 or so xmas shopping arguments though... maybe that was the cause!?

Apparently they are closed between 12 and 6am to restock the shelves. My mum saw a notice when she went in the other day.
