Is there any truth in the idea that you never get the same examiner for more than one test? I can see the logic in it but I'm sure that I had the same examiner for both my tests. It is a long time ago so I may be wrong but I can remember feeling shock-horror when he came out of his room and I recognised him.
By the way I did pass the second time

It all depends Mo, sometimes you can have the same examiner for more than one test, but not necessarily. In my day's as a driving instructor I saw it all the time.

In my time I have taken pupils for a test who failed and the next test they had it was the same examiner again and the pupil started shaking with fear before they got in the car for their test.

Some examiner's are patient and say very little, but other's can be nasty and start shouting making the pupil terrified. One pupil who was a good carefull driver failed twice and he got angry and threatened to punch the examiner in question.

On the other hand, one of mine insisted in applying for his test before he was ready against my advice and he passed straight away, so I could never be sure who would and wouldn't pass.

Relax, just think of it as another normal lesson.
And tell the Examiner to take off the illuminous jacket, as it distracts you.

Make it really obvious you are using the wing and rear-view mirrors - move your whole body, not just your eyes.

If you need to reverse round a corner, parallel parking, 3 point turn etc and it doesn't go right the first time. Don't say anything, but go back to the starting position and try again.

Don't overtake buses, unless it's very safe to do so and they are in a bus stop layby.

If he says stop at the next convenient point, park park opposite a T Junction or the bottom of somebody's drive.

Show coutesy and stop short of a sharp corner if a bus or large vehicle is turning into your road.

Worked for me. He seemed to be a bit narky with me, so when I pulled over to do the parallel parking manouvere, I asked him to remove his jacket, as it was distracting me - and he did.

"If he says stop at the next convenient point, don't park opposite a T Junction or the bottom of somebody's drive."... or a bus stop, even if it's across the road. - It's not major, but you'll get a point for it.

A perfect answer. Are you an ADI, by any chance?

..And act & drive confidently and safely, not tentatively and safely.

Lol - examiners are Civil Servants they are employed by the DSA ( so the poster could be )

Anyway, take your time and don't rush to do things. For me, just making it out of the test centre onto the main road was a major achievement. Oh and don't do what I did on my first test and run a red.

You'll be fine - just get some sleep and make sure that you eat beforehand.

One thing that definitely worked for me:

DON'T tell people your test date! Except perhaps your immediate family!

This eases pressure off you to pass!

What makes you think you do?have you compared? Or are you a sucker for believing what your told or is it sold?
if it was true it maybe that men do alot more mileage than women so in that respect are less risk.lets face it if a couple go out together who drives?unless your going to a pub of course.
