Hi all

I have been lucky enough to be offered another House Exchange via the Homeswap scheme.

I seem to be having more luck with the Homeswap scheme then the Property Shops bidding system.

Anyways the property is in Daresbury Place, Arbourthorne so I would be really grateful if you could tell me your experiences of the place good and bad and whether you would recommend it for a single mum and a 6 year old demon child, just joking he really is a lovely kid.

Could you also tell me what you know of the primary schools in the area and if they have good resources for children with special educational needs.

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to all

Regards

Joanne

Well, in my opinion, I would under no circumstances want to live anywhere near that Road..

I live about 15 mins drive away from there and it is a really rough place.

Cant help with the schools but I would not recommend it.

Sorry

Thanks very much for your input espadrille, I welcome all advice on this particular area as I dont want to go making a huge mistake when I have a child to think about, he means far too much to me to move to a dodgy area.

Thanks again

Jo

If you have the postcode, Squashie, enter it on www.upmystreet.com and click on the link for Education.

That'll give you a clue to the results in the area.

Thanks MovingOn,

I plan to look into the schools ofstead reports within the area to get more information.

I would also like to get other peoples personal perspectives on the schools based on their experience, and how they think their kids did / do and what they think of the teachers and the standard of teaching they give to the kids.

I find the teachers round my way are very patronising and condesending, to me they tend to treat the parents in the same way they treat the kids and I want to make sure that when I choose a school for my son it not only has a good standard of education but also has down to earth teachers that dont belittle the parents.

That up my street website is a really good resource.

Cheers

Jo

If you move to Daresbury Place I think you will be in the catchment area for Myrtle Spings school - one of the worst schools in Sheffield.

I don't know what the teaching levels are like and I don't blame the teachers, it's just the kids who are little devils. I have the misfortune to live on one of the roads leading to the school and the levels of truancy among the kids is matched only by their foul language.

I think there is a move afoot to get the school adopted as a 'Christian Academy' - God help them, the'll need it!
