Scum bags. personally i blame the governments for this. If they didnt impose so many taxes and rise the cost of just about everything under the sun , people wouldnt have to steal to survive.

Of course they would! There's always someone who wants more than what they've got.

What statement to make. I've always paid my taxes, and had to pay more for my beer, holidays, food, petrol etc etc. So that means I can go out and rob petrol stations. Wish I'd known this before..... all those wasted years.

I really don't understand people that try to use this as a reason to committ crimes. When I first left home about 10 years ago I lived in a crappy one room bedsit, just over 7 foot by 7 foot. I had no TV, the window was so high up I couldn't see out of it and it was depressing. I could have easily gone out and committed crimes to earn quick cash, but instead I worked hard in a crappy low wage job to pay the bills. I saved up for a TV and other items, then as time went out I worked my way up. Eventually I trained in my own time, left the crap low paid jobs behind and got a decent job earning decent money, bought my own house in Millhouses and now have come a hell of a long way by working very hard. Yes, I could have achieved this selling drugs, ripping people off or committing other crimes, but I didn't. I've never been in trouble with the police or committed a crime. I realised that if I wanted a better life I had to work for it.

So I don't reckon crime is excusable. Why do some people claim they have to steal to survive? We make our own futures, if you want something bad enough then you should find a way to get it, without harming others or committing crime.

Who knows. There are plenty of people it seems that genuinely think that way. Even if this person doesn't, there are others that do.

Police are appealing for information following an incident, where threats were made and a quantity of money was stolen from a petrol station in Ecclesall, Sheffield.

The incident happened at 10.45am on Monday 9 July 2007, at the Shell Petrol Station on Ecclesall road.

A man has entered the store via the rear entrance, where a male member of staff, against whom threats had been made, was working alone. The man has then taken a substantial quantity of money and left the premises. The member of staff was left uninjured but was understandably shaken up by his ordeal.

The man is described as black, approximately 6ft tall, of medium build, with wide shoulders. He was wearing a dark blue long sleeved hooded top, with the hood up, a dark coloured scarf covering part of his face, sunglasses and dark blue trousers. He was carrying a blue holdall.
