Thanks for that.

I wasn't sure whether that was the case or not - I know in previous cases the payment of ransoms has been denie by the multinationals and the government, but it must happen.

Good old fashioned criminal gangsterism seems the most likely reason here. And if that's the case a ransom will most likely resolve this particular incident.

Really? I can't really see what Madeleine has done to "deserve" more publicty.

Care to enlighten us bagger, as I can't come up with any reasons why she "deserved" it.

The fact that Madeleine's case has raised more awareness for other missing children is simply a byproduct, that's like saying the Big Brother program was good because it got people talking about racism (That's Channel 4 producers' poor attempt to justify the Big Brother program).

no i think it was the stupidity of her parents leaving her in the room with her 2 sibling while they went for dinner!

Let's hope she is. And if I was her mother I'd be moving sharpish.
Why does anyone want to live in such a place where kidnapping is commonplace?

That's excellent news. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6282846.stm

It's not yet understood whether a ransom was paid - it's possible that the kidnappers valued their lives more than the ransom if they'd managed to upset the local militant organisations.

Not wishing to slag off anyone - these events are just too tragic. However, I'd just like to make the point that if my child were abducted in those circumstances, her name would be prefixed by 'home alone' and somewhere not far away would lie the words 'single' and 'parent'.

She deserved it because she was snatched by unknown persons.

The media haven't covered Margaret's story as much as Madeleine because kidnappings in that part of the world are almost daily occurances and are always solved. As Margarets has now been, thank goodness. She is now home with her parents which was always going to be the case according to those in the know.
Cases such as Madeleines quite often have tragic circumstances and therefore more newsworthy.

Well if my home put my children under threat then I'd relocate. Not such a strange thing to do surely
