Its got to be a brown labrador puppy because our kids have already chosen a name for it !!.

We want a labrador from a reputable breeder where we could see the parents if possible , the dogs family history, kennel club registered etc .

Anyone know anyone or has bought from someone before who they could recommend . We would be gratefull of any help .

Thankyou Karen x

The Kennel Club puppy register is a good place to look.

There are some ads in the back of Your Dog magazine (monthly) but I do not know how they vet these and am yet to write my letter of complaint after seeing a puppy farmer in there so you will have to know exactly what you're looking for.
Likewise, if you know how to tell the good from the bad you can try epupz but I don't touch it with a bargepole!!

Best one to try is the KC in my opinion and maybe google for a UK labrador club and see if there are any breeders on there planning litters.

I have heard of one name that crops up regularly with good reviews - it is Stormley? I don't know if they have choccies?

Don’t forget to ask about Hip scores, displacement is common in Labs, we have a chocolate Lab is temperament is great and we must have been lucky because he never barks or chews anything

We got a labrador when i was about 8 , she lived till she was 17 and she was just like one of the family , i had moved out of my mums house and had a family of my own when she died , but i remember being devestated when my dad told me , i cried for hours , she was just such a fantastc dog . She never barked or chewed anything either and was so friendly to everyone . Weve got quite a few friends who have labs and ive never met one yet that isnt friendly (the dogs that is , not the friends Ha Ha ) .Thats why we want a labrador , i have a good idea what they are like .

Thanks so much for the recomendations and advice so far , keep them coming in please .
Karen xx

Stormley is a very well known name and highly recommended through the Kennel Club. She breeds yellow, black & chocolate. Solo is her chocolate dog at the moment and she keeps a list of all the bitches who are expecting from her dogs and posts the lists on her internet site. Her name Is margaret and she lives in Keighley. If you like you can PM me and I will give you more details on breeding Choc labs and what to expect from a choc lab puppy (which is very different to the sterotype people have of labradors! lol) I will also give you her contact details. If I can help you futher please PM me.

The info on Stormley - just as well really as I'd only heard the name and didn't really know much about them!
