Each Monday evening I catch a bus to Hillsborough it generally takes up to 30 mins today sailed there in less than 10 why because only one driver disregarded the tramgate I wonder if he or she will be fined ? Has anyone else noticed the difference ?

Don't change from bus avatars though exm, all this people changing avatars means I can't keep up with the site.

In response to the OP, yes, I've noticed the difference. Not at Hillsborough Corner but at Malin Bridge where it's been complete gridlock the last two mornings. So before the council start their orgy of self-congratulation at speeding up a bus's journey into town by 10 seconds or whetever, perhaps they'd like to walk down the road a bit and see where all the traffic ended up.

Don't say thing like that.

They'll walk down Holme Lane, see the (now massive) tailbacks, then close the Lane to private vehicles

If it makes the tram and busses quicker and helps the busses I use get through better who cares about the car drivers.

I'm being selfish like them for a change.

Why are car drivers selfish?

How about not letting busses pull out, parking at bus stops and blocking the access, blocking yellow box junctions, not always indicating correctly causing bus to brake sharply, thinking they can always overtake the bus on blind corners, pull out in front of bus because they could not see a lit up double decker and my favourite thinking they always have the right of way against other vechiles and pedestrians.

Having said that there are some very good drivers out there that do respect other road vechiles and pedestrians and do let your bus out but sadly they are out numbered.

Absolute nightmare on Hillsborough Place and Taplin Road this morning. Walkley Lane was very busy last night. I can't wait for the bad weather to come when eveybody jumps into their cars again.

Think your blowing things out of proportion here. People often use cars as they have no choice.

I admit to not letting buses out, after all I don't want to be stuck behind those smelly things (the bus passengers) for hours

And thats just the bus drivers!!!. I have to be honest i don't let buses out, and the reason why is that 90% of bus drivers are arrogant, selfish (*^^%% who care nothing for anything else on the road. In my own small way i'm returning the favour. One bus is 10min quicker but most of west sheffield comes to a halt. Sounds like pretty poor planning to me. I'm sure everyone said that before it was done, but the council never listen. The problem is that people who never even used that road are now penalised because of the overflow onto other less suitable roads.

I saw 8 cars in the tram gate this morning (interestingly 6 women (one with no seatbelt), two men (one on a mobile) - far fewer than normal. Holme Lane didn't appear any worse than normal. It'll take a while to settle down though. But if it's making the journey better and more reliable for the buses and trams, that has to be a good thing.

I was sat in the traffic this monring at the end of Holme lane and watched as 3 busses (2 No14's and 1 No13) soared through the junction, it's nice to see busess getting thourough junctions freely especially when they are EMPTY.

Empty when you saw them perhaps. Heaven knows how many people they went on transport. And I dare say the people waiting for them will be pleased that they've started to run more efficiently.

So effieciently they have obviously missed them ???

The traffic chaos this has caused could have been delyaed until after Leppings lane was reopened. The traffic from Holme lane has caused tail backs all the way up into Wisewood at the Junction of Hallowmoor Rd and Wisewood Ave. And to make things worse this morning, 2 intelligent lorry drivers managed to narrow Herries Rd into one lane down near Bramhalls Gold Rm.

I dont wish to appear a smart alec but if for instance you were to take that attitude in the south of the UK and London in particular regarding not letting buses out from bus stops your car would spend most of its life in a garage being constantly put back together again.

EMPTY, they must have been running light ( Out Of Service) then and would have been brought back in service somewhere, 13/14's are never empty, Late! but never empty.

Hmmm...... that's OK then. Lets create a transport network that benefits the minority and penalises the majority. That sounds logical don't you think?
