[Draggletail]

It started with a shed.

Mrs Draggletail desired a shed to put all the garden toys and general 'stuff' in.

I resisted of coures, being a guy. Putting up a shed requires work.

So... we got a shed (and this is another 'law' - "the women generally get their own way in the in the end law")

Much work went into digging out the area and levelling it.

Then we got to thinking about the area next to the shed - perfect for a 'play house' for our toddler

Much excavating and laying of decking base ensued....

I lay my aching bod on the deck ... the space next to it was perfect for the garden bench as a seating area...

Much heaving and inserting of railway sleepers and we had a seating area....

I sat on the seat with a cup of tea. the overgrown area in front needed stripping out, planting and mulching .....

(Yes, yes it's done)

And the right angled crazy paving path with the unpointed dirt areas that our son liked grubbing about in is now gone, and gravelled with with feature terracing timbers)

How come every job to do with houses and gardens generates another job ad infinitum? Chaos theory proven

This reminds me of why some men thinks that women likes cooking and cleaning like a slave. lol...

So true, Draggle! I was thinking the same thing last weekend, when I was painting the posts and roof that surround my small back porch. I had to paint them so they would match the bright, clean planters and trellis that I installed the previous weekend. Now, the rest of the house trim looks drab and timeworn!

There's no stopping now....

That's how to deal with requests for things that you know are going to be hard work :-)

It's the curse of modern life. We get all these fab new gadgets and 'labour saving devices' but they only add up to more work.

A car? You've only got to wash and hoover it, take it to the garage, pay bills etc.

An MP3 player? Nice, but think of all that time spent ripping CDs, then renaming them because they've got not info on, then loading them up, then reloading them when you get a new player.

A DVD-R? Fab, but then you must format them discs and spend time labelling them. Plus then you notice the feature that lets you tap in info using the fiddly remote...and there's more dusting of course...

its because you dont plan properly. being practical is as much use as being an intellectual, in fact its more use!

No, I'm a gadget fan, but they don't half take up a load of time! I spend half my life worrying if phones and mp3 players are charged and when I go on holiday all the chargers take up half me bag
