It's called "Clearance Key".

My parents did the same thing in 1979, when our old house was demolished in the clearance in Highfield.

the basics of it are this:-

My parents had priority, and wanted a specific area.

Someone else who wanted a move offered their house to my parents, in exchange for my parents' priority.

That lady moved out of her house into another house.

We moved into that lady's old house, out of our house, to allow it to be demolished.

That lady got the smaller house she wanted in the area she wanted, my parens got the size and location of house they needed, and everyone was happy...

It (obviously) has to be done with the council/ housing association's permission, just like any exchange.

We have a lovely 2 bedroomed house on Verdant Way (Is classed as firth park but really is kind of in between firth park and shiregreen opp Hatfield Hse Lane School). It is a lovely road that is opposite some allotments so is extremely quiet. We also have really good neighbours.

We need a 3 bedroomed property.

Only reason why we want an exchange is we have another child on the way and need more room. Most areas considered as long as good neighbours and quiet rd also.

Our house has just had a brand new kitchen and bathroom and a combi heating system.

Please pm me if you are interested.

many thanks!

I have a large 3 bed semi, on a quite cul-de-sac in walkley s6 area.
It has just been modernised, so new kitchen bathroom, floor, tiles, kitchen and bathroom re-decorated, new combi boiler and central heating system,
Please see below all the rooms measurements:

Kitchen: 13.5ft x 11ft
Hall: 5ft x 23ft
downstairs toilet and sink: 7ft x 2.5ft
living room: 11ft x 17.5ft
Landing: 7.5ft x 11.5ft
upstairs bathroom and toilet: 7ft x 6ft
first bedroom: 8ft x 11ft
2nd bedroom: 10ft x 14ft
3rd bedroom: 9.5ft x 14.5ft

It has a large drive big enough for 2 cars,
large rear fenced garden, small side garden, and medium sized front garden.
It has an outhouse which is built into the house so not sticking out. It also has a walk in pantry/larder, large stoarge cupboard upstairs, a large cupbopard in the hall way for coats and shoes.

The rent on this property is £83 per week. and council tax is £90 per month.

(I thought i'd mention this as it puts some people off)

I'm wanting a similar house to this in nice quite area, i dont want
parsons cross, manor norfolk park hyde park or any rough estates thanks
