Why don't you ever see baby pigeons?
Well I've got one!
A pigeon has been in our garden all day and so late afternoon I went out and it let me get quite close to it. I picked it up to look if it was hurt but it's ok, its wings are fine and it flaps them but doesn't fly, I think it is a baby that left the nest a bit too soon. It was still there as it was going dark so I've put it in an empty rabbit hutch to protect it from cats and foxes. I've put some wild bird seed in with it and I'll let it out in the morning and see if it can fly after a nights rest. What I want to know is am I doing right or does anyone have a better plan?
There haven't been any other pigeons hanging around that could be parents, and I don't need any spanners saying make a pie.

Because squabs stay in the nest and are dependant upon the parents until they are ready to fly away. I know that the instinct is to keep the juvenile away from harms way is quite strong but whether the parent still accepts the bird after it has had human contact is another matter.
Either way - good on you for doing something about it rather than leaving it to randomness.
