I've just witnessed a horrible accident outside Argos Extra in Sheffield (Snig Hill??) An old lady was crossing the road and was hit by a bus. I think the lights were on red (not sure) but she wasn't on the crossing.

When I left, she was on the floor and looked in pretty bad shape. Ambulance got there just as I was leaving.Lots of people were there and saw exactly what happened, probably more so than I did.

Just wanted to alert everybody to the diversions as I caught the bus home around the back of the market, and all other buses were being re-directed that way.

If anyone knows this lady, could you please let me know if she's alright?? Had to go away and be ill...am still a bit shaken up.

I really, really hope she is ok - my thoughts are with her and her family.

Barbie

I didn't see the bus driver prior to the lady hitting the road, so I really couldn't say what he was doing. Turned around when I heard someone scream.

How awful.

I had a near myself there. I was new to Sheffield, and unused to the traffic ... the bus seemed to swing around from nowhere. I was lucky.

Hope the lady concerned does make a good recovery.

I know what you mean, they do seem to swing into view very suddenly, all the street furniure paraphanalia blocks the view of traffic coming from the other side of the junction.

I've had to break into a sprint when going across there a few times to avoid being splatted.

Probably best not to come out with comments like this unless and until you know the facts of whats happened to this poor lady.

When I was down there about an hour ago, the whole area was taped off with about 4-5 police cars & vans & a police photographer taking pics of the front corner of the bus...

the bus was coming down from castle square towards the market area. the blood i saw running was in the centre of the road which i presume means the lady was crossing the road and didnt see the bus.

Unused to traffic, where are you from if you don't mind me asking? a bus is a bus and a road is a road no matter where in the world you come from...

i think with something like this if its as serious as it sounds, they'll have to take police photos and investigate it.

The buses absolutely fly round that corner, if something isnt done about it then an incident like this will 100% happen again, im just surprised its took this long for something bad to happen there.

I think you know what they meant, unused to the traffic on that certain road, why pick someone up on something so minor, it should be common sense to you.
Or are you just one of them who picks every one up on any tiny mistake?
