Hi a colleague has just deleted some info off a floppy disk, then formatted it.

The floppy hasblt been used it since, but now my colleague realises he urgently needs to get at that info again. Is it possible?

Cheers in advance

If the disk was 'quick formatted' I THINK that it's possible - quick-formatting just affects the parts of the disc that contain information as to where files are stored, AFIAK.

If it was 'fully formatted' then I think you're screwed.

Try a Google.... http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...d+floppy&meta=

Best of luck.

Yep. The FAT is destroyed (though there are two copies stored, only one is deleted - unless it's only HDs that use this feature), this makes it relatively easy to recover.

There are ways, though in no way guaranteed to work. Mainly due to the fact that a full format deletes both copies of the floppy's FAT) . Recovery is then dependant upon the files being in a none fragmented state (ie sequential tracks and sectors of the disk) as new FATs have to be built.
