I'm looking for a really nice hotel/pub/B+B about 10-15miles from Sheffield in the peak district - it's my anniversary soon and I thought it would be cool to walk out somewhere, dinner bed and breakfast it and then walk home.

Any ideas/recommendations?

Chequers at Frogatt - great for walks up in the hills - lots of places around for lunch and you can have dinner there - has a restaurant and bar ... nice rooms.

Don't know about walking there and back but you could get a bus to somewhere (Fox House?) alk there - check in and then go for a big walk.

The next day you could go to Grindleford caff for lunch or brekky and get the train home.

Have a happy anniversary!

Would second this recommendation. Good accommodation and good food. A lovely location.

The Millstone at Hathersage does B+B and their food is excellent. Also the Fox House Inn at, er.... Fox House. Nice old pub, real ale, food is OK and the room rate is reasonably inexpensive. Both well situated for some great walks.

Scotsman's Pack at Hathersage or Yorkshire Bridge at Ladybower, both good b + b with great breakfasts.

Nearly! Try the Bull's Head, opposite.

My family stopped here for one night last summer and it was fantastic. Proper home cooked food served in generous portions, comfy leather seats in the bar and the view from our bedroom - Mam Tor - was wonderful. Also, as a guest parking was easy and free!

It used to be a right old grot of a pub but no longer. It's been done out beautifully and they kept the open fire. Good food, real ale, pool table, comfy seats, friendly staff and a bed upstairs to pass out on, bliss! Plus, there are the other delights of Castleton (the George, the Castle, the Peak, the Nag's Head).

Only drawback is that you might not be allowed to book a single night at the weekend.

The Bull's Head in Foolow is the best gastro pub I have been to, and I think they do B+B. It's in a tiny hamlet, very pretty

Both the Castle at Castleton and Fox house allow you to book single nights, stopped at both and can recommend them both
