Im not even married, but obviously being a woman, have a mega interest in all things wedding.
Ive just seen a money calculator wedding thing, and thought i would fill it in for a laugh...the grand total being almost 13k....which i didnt think was that bad really, i didnt even be controlled when putting the amounts in.
It just got me wondering how much people spend on their weddings?
I wouldnt want to spend too much, i.e. 20, 30, 40k which i know some people do. But then i wouldnt want to only be able to spend a couple of grand and have to skimp on everything....i would rather save up for longer.
Also...for those of you that have been married, what was the best single thing that you spent your money on?

Ours cost very little, we did everything that we could do ourselves including the flowers and jewellery, table decorations etc.
the biggest cost for us was feeding 47 people.
the best thing for me was the venue
Myself friends have/plan to spend less than £5k, and so far we have all been more than successful, with the perfect day for all of us
You don't have to spend a fortune to have the best day

purely by luck, spent weeks searching the web, to be told the "wedding singer " we wanted was unavailable - the weddings still 18months away.
then found a link on google round valentines time.
the lead arranger/pianist performs at loads of hotels & jazz bars.and his site plays his own cd recordings.
after listening to him, emailed him for details and was offered a 4 piece band to do whatever.
so opted for rat pack, crooner type stuff with some danceability.
the main guy is called Scott Bramley.

We had a lovely little wedding in Florida for next to nothing,as we were going anyway. I think the actual ceromony cost £150 plus about £300 for outfits. The party for family & friends cost more, when we arrived back home.
If anyone is thinking of getting married in Florida, I would highly recommend these http://www.centralfloridaweddingchapel.com/

also sold the dress and accessories on ebay, bought maids shoes in sale for couple of £, got florist aunty to do all flowers, another aunty to make maids dresses and one 4 me 4 honeymoon(although never wore it!) both parents put in £2500 ish, booked cars and photos from Barnsley which were better qual than any i saw in sheffield at that time and lots cheaper
doesnt cost that much as you pay along the way over 2years of planning

I got married in 1994 and then it cost three thousand pound, which was cheap considering. Im not married to him anymore though, so that one I can forget about.
I am now engaged and in no rush to get married but we have talked about it and we say about six grand in total. You dont have to spend a fortune on your wedding. I know its meant to be the best day of your life but I would sooner spend twenty grand or so on something like a house.

We got married in 1988 and it cost £5000. I guess that was a lot back then.
We did save for it and paid for it all ourselves
